Estimator

We are a specialist Electrical and Data contractor based in Australia and are seeking an Estimator to enable us to significantly grow our business.

The role involves receiving Electrical and Data plans as PDFs, undertaking full take-offs of all required components, creating schedules, seeking supplier prices from approved sources, assessing labour requirement in a commercially and practically realistic manner and then preparing a detailed draft quotation for approval by the Director. Other general administration/planning tasks may be required to fulfil the requirements of the business, however the main focus will be estimating. Working hours are flexible and subject to agreement. There are no ‘graveyard’ shift requirements for this role.

Typical projects to be estimated would be in the order of AU$10k to AU$500k in Upgrade to see actual info order to be successful for this role, you will have/be:
• a minimum of 3 year’s experience as an Estimator or Quantity Surveyor undertaking Australian electrical and/or data work
• excellent Excel-based and numeracy skills and a logical ‘solutions focused’ approach to problem solving
• very confident working with, interpreting and understanding Australian construction electrical plans and specifications
• strong prioritisation, self organisation and self-accountability skills
• very high levels of attention to detail and able to work diligently, quickly and accurately with minimal supervision
• confident and fluent in both written (reading and writing) and oral communication (listening comprehension and also in speech) in English
• able to follow written instructions / SOPs accurately and have a low tolerance for making mistakes
• able to demonstrate initiative and not overly rely on verbal instruction
• reliable, hard working, diligent and eager to gain results and outcomes

Additionally, you will have:

• your own (not shared use) reliable and well specified computer (min 4GB – preferably 8GB) RAM, MacOS or Windows 7) with at least 3 megapixels video camera capable of 720p recording
• a reliable, solid and good-speed (min 5mbps) internet connection at home with a true back-up facility if the primary Upgrade to see actual infofé working is not permitted for this role.

The ideal candidate will also be/have:

• Experience using Groundplan and/or ESPRO 7.
