Perl Programmer

This is a test (temp) job, 1 day only, with an opportunity for more work in the future.

I need some Perl Php programming updating done on several scripts used to run 2 directory sites. These directory sites are using RSS scraping for news feeds, metaserach for the directory results as well as a contextual advertising script.

The job would be:

1. Update all scripts to be compliant with the most current version of Perl or Php; I am 2 versions behind with Perl, although my scripts are still working on my current server (also 2 versions behind).

2. Once scripts are updated, TRANSFER (COPY) the sites and updated scripts to a new web host virtual server.

3. Test and debug the sites post transfer; Update DNS; Test directory functionalities to be sure everything is working. (usually their are "file permission" errors after transferring to a new web host, that's what happened the last time I transferred.)

4. Help out with any remaining site transfer issues.

That's it for the most part. All I want you to do is update the scripts, check permissions and then transfer (copy) the site and files to a new LAMP webserver, then test the functionalities to be sure all are working (news feeds, metasearch, ads display, etc.).

You must be able to read and write good English!

If selected for this one day job, I will pay you US $20 for the day, even if you finish early.
