Requirements: Analyst needs to be physically based in Manila, have at least 3 years of B2B market research experience, undergraduate degree and be able to accompany our client team over 3 days of meetings.
1. Background
The product range is super sour kids candy ranging from a 1 to a 5 on a ‘sour scale’. The brand has a strong following on social media.
To include information such as whether they have an Agent/ Distributor in the market, any exhibitions attended through European government support, their reason for exporting to the overseas market and the opportunities and competition they understand to be present within the market.
Client has no current distributor or prior distribution in target country. They have been recommended the market by a Chinese supplier as good target market due to: country having 2 major convenience store chains each with over 15,000 stores, consumers like sour candy in country, and 45% of population are under 30.
Client has no knowledge of their competition and no market share in target country. They would like to build sales across the target country and gain distribution in key retail chains. Difficult to gauge turnover level.
2. Project Tasks (3 stage)
A. Research (not a big long report as you just need to address the key points): We need the analyst to research the markets, whether if sour candy is popular in the country, key retail chains in each country, demographics. We need to understand if the client's product designs are culturally acceptable for the country.
B. Distributor Partner Search/Outreach: Once this is done, we need the analyst to research potential distributors that have distribution across all key retails chains and experience with FMCG.
C. Arrange/Accompany Meetings (about N = 5 to 6):
Once distributors are identified, we need the analyst to make contact, share details of the brand and gauge interest. Once any ‘hot leads’ are identified, analyst is to set up meetings and accompany the client visiting team over 3 days to meet distributors at their offices, facilitate and take notes. Some follow-up activities if necessary e.g. clarify info, Q&A between Client and distributors, etc.
