This is to fill the long-term position as our Chief Technical Officer (CTO) to manage all aspects pertaining to our online course platform at PPC University.
We are currently beginning the re-design of the front-end (new theme, CSS customizations) of our website. Your main task will be to provide strong back-end support to a junior WP developer tasked with the installation and customization of a new WordPress theme for our website
As our CTO, you would have received training as a software engineer – OR- possess superior analytical and organizational skills. You would be very meticulous in the execution of your work and have several years of demonstratable experience as the lead developer supervising small teams. Ideally, you have been responsible for the delivery and ongoing management of projects involving online course environments for WordPress such as LearnDash and/or E-commerce environments built with WooCommerce. Our server environment is LINODE with Nginx.
Expert knowledge with one or more of the following three (3) WordPress extensions/plugins will be a big plus: WooCommerce, Learn Dash LMS (Learning Management System), Buddy Boss theme customizations.
You will be given time to study the current installation in-depth also based on a Master Development Document that explains what has been done so far and how things work. Your task will also be to update this document on a regular basis as required. We are particularly insisting on applying WordPress Best Practices and clean coding. You must be absolutely top-notch in this regard and be able to guide, orient, control and supervise team members that may execute tasks under your supervision. You should also be able to execute WP development work autonomously without supervision. You will be referring directly to the CEO of PPC University and be able to provide recommendations and discuss projects in a friendly, collaborative team environment either over
For example, you will assist a web designer who is tasked with the re-design of the current front-end redesign of PPC University.
One of your first tasks could also be to perform WordPress update and plugin updates on a cloned version of our website and to make sure that functionality is not broken on the website with the updates.
You should also possess superior English-language skills.
While this offer is for the long term, we don’t have full-time development needs. The ideal person, therefore, is looking for a part-time position or would like to work on a per-hour basis – at least in the beginning. 10 hours to 20h per week would be ideal.
