JOB OVERVIEW

Instructor Recruiting Manager

Stick Shift Driving Academy is looking for an Instructor Recruiting Manager to hire and onboard 400 qualified instructors in the top 100 US markets by 12/31/2019, with the primary outcome of increasing the total number of fully on-boarded instructors to 400 by 12/31/2019. This is a 40 hour per week full-time term appointment starting as soon as possible through December 31, 2019, with the possibility of extension.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Generate 100 new instructor applications per week through the fulfillment of these goals;
- Identify groups, forums, and websites where instructor opportunities can be promoted
- Promote instructor opportunities in appropriate channels, websites, forums, and job boards.
- Use UTM (Urchin Tracking Model) parameters on all links to determine which channels perform or are working the best
- Reach out to the administrator of groups and websites to see how we can work together to increase recruiting of instructors
- Contact used car dealers to see if they want to teach lessons

Increase instructor application completion rate to 15% and reduce average throughput time to within 6 weeks of hire
- Ensure that we receive all of the materials (photo of car, car inspection, etc…) and answers to signup questions are received from all applicants within two weeks of them creating an account. Potentially this can be done by offering a money bonus to instructors who get it all done quickly.
- Create marketing materials (videos, emails, etc…) that educate and inspire the applicant to finish the application process
- Ensure that our sales team conducts a pitch and Q&A with each applicant and follows up with each applicant to get back materials throughout the sign-up process
- Ensure that all applicants receive rapid responses to any communication they send us.
- Identify problems and opportunities in Fountain sign up flow and collaborate with Fountain rep to improve the applicant’s experience.
- Optimize Fountain so that we screen applicants for only the most important variables

Maintain a 95% eligible instructor rate at all times
- Checking of documents, get new ones, make sure all documents needed from every instructor are valid. If they're expiring soon, ask for new ones.

CANDIDATE BRIEFING

The number of applications per day has fallen because we can no longer post free ads on Facebook. We need to expand our targeting.
Most applicants don’t finish the signup process. We think this is partially because they’re not talking to anyone, so it seems sketchy. Additionally, our settings on Fountain, our hiring platform, are likely too restrictive. Lots of instructors are being put on hold because they’re not sending back their materials fast enough. We would like to develop a pay bonus system to incentivize applicants to send everything back quickly.
Profile descriptions and photos that instructors send back often are unprofessional, needing editing and new photos to be sent

ABOUT STICK SHIFT DRIVING ACADEMY - OUR VALUES
RADICAL HONESTY AND TRANSPARENCY
We are extremely honest and open with each other. If somebody thinks the CEO is wrong, they have an obligation to say so directly to the CEO. If there’s a problem or a perception of a problem, we each have a responsibility to discuss it with whoever is involved in the problem. We would rather work with someone who says too much than says too little. As such, people with shy or timid personalities do not do well in this company. People who are outspoken and who push boundaries do very well here. We’d rather you be too rude than too polite.

TOTAL RESPONSIBILITY
Each person is responsible for achieving and exceeding their goals. If anything stands in your way, it is your responsibility to overcome the obstacle. Excuses are met with severe penalties. There is no formal training program. While we’re happy to answer questions, you will need to figure out many things on your own. People who expect to be shown what to do and how to do it perform poorly here. People who are constantly looking for more work to do and ways to increase the quality of their work excel here.

GROWTH MINDSET
Beyond making sure you achieve your goals, you are also responsible for expanding both your responsibilities and improving the quality of your work. We expect you to find better ways to do the work. We know that everything we’re doing could be done better and we expect you to identify how it should be improved. We will not only pay for any course or training material that you want to study but also will pay you for your time spent studying. People who prefer to learn how to do a job once and then keep doing it the same way every day do not do well here. People who see their job as an opportunity to improve their existing skills and learn new ones do very well here.
