District Media Inc., a unique and growing start up, is seeking a full-time Editorial Assistant to join our team. Founded in 2013, District Media articles have been read by over 11 Million people. We are a fast growing and profitable Oregon-based startup with a team of 9 working in the United States and Asia.

The Editorial Assistant will assist our editorial team in developing personal finance content, performing topical research and search engine optimization support.

This position is open to remote work.

This role offers a unique opportunity to the right candidate looking to advance with a digital content operation that is expanding while others contract. Over the last four years, our business has grown from a single founder working out of coffee shops to our current team of colleagues located across the globe.

We are profitable with a proven revenue model, and we offer the chance to expand your skills by working with our management team alongside your editorial support duties. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional interested in digital publishing and personal finance.

Responsibilities will include:
• Research - Use commercially available software such as SEM Rush, as well as historical data to support and inform our content creation and planning activities
• Image creation - Generate infographics and images to supplement and support our writing team
• Administrative assistance – Help our editor with administrative tasks such as project scheduling and coordination
• Content creation – Write small amounts of copy, perform basic fact checking and utilize tools to improve content copy
• Content quality monitoring and enhancement - Proofread and check articles for accuracy, suggest possible sources and improvements for articles. Follow current events and developments and suggest original ideas for publication
• Search Engine Optimization – edit articles and images to enhance their ability to rank in search engines.

Qualifications for success:
• You have a minimum of 5 years of writing, research and editing finance content.
• Excellent English written ability and knowledge of the US dialect of English.
• A bachelor’s degree or higher in journalism, financial planning or related subject.
• You have thorough knowledge of US personal finance and are interested in US capital markets.
• Ability to meet deadlines with little supervision.
• Working knowledge of Search Engine Optimization best practices.
• Working knowledge of the WordPress Content Management System.
• You are comfortable working in a startup environment and have a pleasant personality.
• You are proficient in Windows and The Microsoft Office suite of programs.

• Compensation:
• This is a full-time position with a competitive annual salary of $500 per month. There is no relocation package, so candidates should be comfortable working from their home or office in Asia.
