JOB PLAN: Marketing Manager
Job Description
Someone passionate about their work who could accomplish business development goals by researching and developing marketing opportunities and plans, implementing sales plans, and managing staff.
Required Skills and Abilities
1. Market Research - Marketing managers need to have a good knowledge of the customer. This means building up an accurate picture using the resources that are available. It is important to take personal opinion out of as many decisions as possible. Information can be gathered from questionnaires, focus groups, the internet, interviews, buying habits and many more sources, but it's important that the information is examined in a scientific way using proper statistical methods.
2. Development of Marketing Strategy and Plan - The marketing plan should provide direction for all relevant members of the organization and should be referred to and updated throughout the year. The Marketing Manager should be able to provide a structured approach on how to achieve the business goals.
3. Customer Relationship Management - communicating with customers throughout the various stages of the purchasing process, and this includes people who have already bought from you.
4. Experience managing non-personal social media accounts like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Google+, etc.
5. The ability to communicate on social platforms in a consistent, on-brand voice.
6. Experience using social media analytics tools and the ability to tweak social strategies based on findings.
7. Measuring Success - An important element of the marketing manager's role is the process of collecting and analyzing data on success. This can take the form of website hits, sales figures, market share data, customer satisfaction or many other metrics and it's important to record and track these as a core part of the marketing process.
Required Knowledge
1. Sales and Marketing — Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
2. English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
3. Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Duties
? Accomplishes marketing and sales human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
? Achieves marketing and sales operational objectives by contributing marketing and sales information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
? Meets marketing and sales financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
? Identifies marketing opportunities by identifying consumer requirements; defining market, competitor's share, and competitor's strengths and weaknesses; forecasting projected business; establishing targeted market share.
? Improves product marketability and profitability by researching, identifying, and capitalizing on market opportunities; improving product packaging; coordinating new product development.
? Sustains rapport with key accounts by making periodic visits; exploring specific needs; anticipating new opportunities.
? Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

? Creating and evaluating social media strategies.
? Monitoring, responding to, and communicating with the online community.
