Junior or Mid Level Ruby on Rails Developer

We are looking for an eager Ruby on Rails Developer that will be a great addition to an energetic small team launching a new, innovative platform. We are looking for a great Ruby on Rails developer who is proficient with Javascript. Your primary focus will be on developing backend processes, services, integrations, and turning feature stories into reality. You will ensure that these components and the overall application are robust and easy to maintain. You will coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and quality product is important.

Responsibilities
- Developing new features, backend development, API integrations, and other development work to meet deliverables
- Writing RSpec tests to adhere to a test driven development practice
- Combining efforts with front-end developers to connect backend processes to existing user-interface
- Translating user stories into high quality code
- Optimizing components for maximum performance across a vast array of web-capable devices and browsers
- Handling a share of user issues / bugs, locating the issue and solving/collaborating with the team
- Provide daily status updates to team (Slack, Trello)

Skills
- You have 2+ years of experience working with Ruby on Rails and related frameworks
- You have experience in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, DOM, and AJAX
- Experience with common Ruby gems (Devise, HTTParty)
- An eye for good design and obsession with making things simple and efficient
- Familiarity with GraphQL and RESTful APIs (SendGrid, Twilio, Zapier, etc)
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
- A knack for estimations, benchmarking and optimization
- Familiarity with code versioning tools Git (Github)
- Familiarity with common deployment protocols (Heroku pipeline)
- Familiarity with Agile Scrum and using tracking tools (Trello, ZenDesk)
- Excellent written communication skills
- Experience with popular React.js and associated workflows (such as Flux or Redux) is a plus
