We are looking for full-time Senior Lead Web Developers to join our team of professionals to work remotely from your own location virtually on an exciting variety of web projects. Your main role will be to translate our web designs into HTML / CSS / Javascript templates that are integrated into WordPress – our CMS of choice. You will also help create interactive wireframes, assist with Information Architecture decisions, train clients on managing their websites, and administer WordPress updates. You’ll bring a positive and professional attitude and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and pitch in. This is a ground floor opportunity to help build a growing web department and work on the cutting edge of presenting research and information on the web.

Expert knowledge of the following:

Front-end development with HTML 5, CSS 3 & jQuery
WordPress template development
WordPress back-end customization and extension
Writing HTML for email
Expert knowledge of WordPress (Plugin / theme development / API), PHP, HTML, Javascript and CSS
Strong experience in MySQL, SOAP and RESTful web services
Strong experience building HTML/CSS across the major browsers
Experience with XML and with modern source control (Git)

Intermediate knowledge of the following:

WHM and cPanel
PHP
Ajax
MySQL
Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
Integrating WordPress with other web based applications
Managing, debugging, extending & documenting jobs from start to finish
Redevelop, extend, and/or enhance existing code
Identifying areas that can be improved and turning that into functionality from start to finish

Experience building websites that feature:

Established & emerging W3C standards
Minimized loading times
Compatibility with Internet Explorer 7+
Progressive enhancement / graceful degradation / polyfills
Compliance with WCAG 2.0 accessibility requirements
Search engine optimization
Web fonts
Experience building mobile-optimized / responsive websites that feature:
Touch screen optimization
Retina / High-DPI optimization
Small-screen optimized navigation
Experience building WordPress themes from scratch, including the use of:
Custom loops
Custom fields
Custom post types
Custom taxonomies
Advanced / customized search
Custom functions
Experience working with tools & libraries such as:
jQuery
CSS grids
HTML5 Boilerplate
WordPress starter themes such as Bones
Modernizr
Third party APIs
Google Analytics
Experience designing user interfaces (UI) that feature:
Interactive elements
Animated elements
Design principles such as white space, simplicity, chunking, proximity, weight, context, visual cues, signposts, focus, and conventions
Demonstration of professional work habits including:
Ability to solve new problems independently using Internet resources
Proactively educating yourself about the latest trends, techniques, and tools in the web development industry
Managing multiple projects simultaneously
Speaking professionally and courteously with clients

Assets
Experience making information architecture decisions
Knowlwedge of social media marketing and content marketing strategies
Some experience with Drupal development is advantageous
Experience using version control tools such as git
Experience using dynamic CSS langages such as Less or Sass
Experience writing CSS with Object Oriented CSS principlesDevelopment of high performance, highly scalable, custom applications for a web environment, mostly WordPress (i.e. plugins, themes)
