Accountant/Senior Auditor
Audit Department – New York, NY – FT

TEI is seeking a Real Estate Accountant/Senior Auditor for our Audit Department to join our team in our New York City office location. The overall responsibility of the Audit Department is to issue financial reports for our various properties and funds. In addition, the Audit Department creates policies and procedures and ensures they are working effectively, and performs financial analysis as needed by management.
What You’ll Do:
• Accounting and auditing of trial balances
• Create semi-annual and annual financial statements
• Analysis of companywide accounting procedures to ensure their effectiveness
• Properly resolving flaws in accounting procedures
• Assist property managers with tenant ledger analysis and any resulting charge adjustments
• Analyze real estate taxes and submit documents to process tax payments
• Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and operating practices
• Identify practical business and process improvement opportunities
• Interact with various levels of business unit personnel and communicate results

What You Bring:
• Education: Bachelors in Accounting.
• Experience: 3 to 5 years of general ledger accounting (preferably real estate) experience
• Computer experience – should be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Detail oriented and able to work independently
