Blockchain / Cryptocurrency Journalist (Writer)

We are a blockchain and cryptocurrency news website and we’re looking to hire a number of journalists, to join our team.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

You will be responsible for writing news articles around developments in the blockchain/cryptocurrency sector. You will be able to either:

1. Pitch ideas to the Editors in a Telegram group and work on these articles if approved.
2. Take jobs from our “Requests” telegram channel, where trending news stories will be published.

You will be expected to follow our editorial process and guidelines which will be provided to you. These guidelines contain things such as:

• Five Ws and How
• Headline/Lede Instructions
• Subheadings
• Using Active Voice
• Linking/Citations/Sources

You will be expected to write a story based on events in the sector. You should follow existing stories to the source, and always cite and link the original source, not a competitor’s website. Strictly no rewrites – you should write your own news story and put your own “angle” on the story if it’s already been published elsewhere.

TASKS:

1. Read our editorial process and guidelines and ensure a thorough understanding of all elements.
2. Monitor our Telegram requests group for new requests. Ensure no other journalists have already picked up a story by checking our writers channel and Google Sheet.
3. Pitch article ideas to the editors
4. Write articles and submit to editors
5. Work with editors to ensure articles are to the expected standards

REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience in an editorial position
• Fluent English
• Good communication skills
• Good IT skills
• Can work fast and sometimes under pressure
• Flexible to changes to our editorial policy and process
• Attention to detail

WORKING HOURS:

11am - 7pm PHT (flexible)
Paid weekend work is available if you want to work it, but this is not compulsory.
