Publisher's Assistant

Dungeon Media Corp. is a book publishing company based out of Canada. Our director is looking for am extended part-time/full-time assistant to help with duties related to book production and publication. 30 hours per week. 5 hours per day except Sunday, though this is flexible.

The successful candidate must be an avid reader, comfortable communicating with clients and contractors, exceptionally strong English skills (writing, editing), and familiarity with social media and marketing. Bonus but not required is graphic design skills.

The tasks will include:
- Research on Amazon for popular book niches, keywords, book cover trends, etc. When not working on other tasks, you will be asked to spend your time reading popular books in specified genres to help come up with concepts for future books. Your role will be to help the director come up with to-market ideas for future book series. Really study the genres and become familiar with what’s popular.
- Corresponding with ghostwriters, editors, cover designers, etc… managing the coordination between subcontractors. This involves submitting the director’s ideas to the outliner, sending that outline to the writer, then sending the manuscript to the editor, and then doing a final proof read yourself. You will be asked, based on your research of the genre, to help in ensuring the book is places in the correct categories with a cover that fits the genre.
- Read through the books we put out and other books in the genres we’re writing in. Must be a very avid reader. We want to know what themes are popular, etc.
- Manage 2 or 3 secret pen name Facebook accounts, interacting within groups relating to the genre the books are in. This may include doing facebook takeovers, sharing promotional images and giveaways, etc. Must be familiar with Facebook and have experience managing party takeovers, etc.
- Promoting the books on social media and submitting the books to different online book marketing newsletters, as required.
- BONUS! if you have graphic design skills. Formatting the books for online and print distribution using vellum, assist with cover design selection, marketing and promotional graphics for social media and advertisements.
- Other miscellaneous tasks, though while the books are being written, you will likely spend a lot of time reading. It’s important that you enjoy reading and are comfortable with adult themed romance.
