Wordpress Expert Required - Permanent Position

We’re seeking a full-time (40 hours/week) full-stack Wordpress/HTML/CSS/JS/PHP/MySQL developer with exceptional front-end development skills, proficiency in back-end development, and an aesthetic eye with attention to detail. This is a long-term, permanent position in our growing company. This is not a contract or project-based position.

We are looking for detail-oriented, hard-working, honest and friendly employees that fit well within our company culture. We are also looking for employees that have a strong desire to learn and take on new tasks that he/she may not be familiar or comfortable with (i.e., you have the ability to learn new concepts and technologies).

Our company is a rapidly growing business that rapidly develops new product ranges which require websites to assist with sales growth. The websites being worked on will mostly be ecommerce websites.


*** JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES ***
To assist with the creation and development of all websites within our portfolio. This will be a combination of existing websites already running and new websites which require creation/development.

We also regularily perform CMS, theme, and plugin upgrades. You will regularly need to migrate production websites to/from a development environment, upgrade Wordpress to the latest version, test the upgrade and compare the upgraded website to the production instance, and test for cross-browser and cross-device compatibility in BrowserStack or CrossBrowserTesting. When you find issues, it will be your responsibility to perform root cause analysis and resolve the issues.

You will also be completing PSD to HTML/WordpressWordpress conversions, working closely with client websites and completing small-medium sized development projects, migrating websites across platforms, and continuing product development for various side projects.

You will need a reliable 2+ mbps internet connection since all of your work is completed online.


*** REQUIRED SKILLS ***
To qualify for this job, the following qualifications are mandatory:

- Expert-level experience in Wordpress core functionality, themes, plugins, managing content/media, installing new websites, and restoring websites from backups.
- Expert-level experience in front-end development: HTML, CSS and JavaScript (including jQuery and other libraries).
- Expert-level experience converting PSDs to responsive websites (HTML, Wordpress, etc.).
- Expert-level experience in responsive design principles.

- Proficient in upgrading Wordpress (core, themes, child themes and plugins), and migrating Wordpress websites to other servers and URLs.
- Proficient in PHP and MySQL development with Wordpress. Ability to learn new technologies and platforms developed in PHP/MySQL.
- Proficient in testing websites cross-browser and cross-device, and a general understanding Software Quality Assurance.
- Basic understanding of website administration in ISPConfig (similar to cPanel), SSH/SFTP/FTP.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written English.


*** DESIRABLE SKILLS (NOT REQUIRED BUT ADVANTAGEOUS) ***
- SEO: basic understanding of best practices and technical SEO basics relating to HTML development.


*** HOURS ***
Preferred hours are 40 hours per week however we would consider alternative options which may suit the candidate better. We’re UK based (GMT/UTC + 0) however we can be reasonably flexible with working hours.

All off-site employees are required to log all work using time management software of which you will be trained in operating this correctly. This is mandatory and non-negotiable. This policy ensures that you are working for the company full time and not on other projects. Essentially, you are "clocking in" when you are working and "clocking out" when you are done working. If you cannot use time management software for any reason then please do not apply.


*** COMPENSATION / BENEFITS ***
After your 3 month probationary period, we offer incentives for exceptional work through a salary increase. 13th month pay is honored. Annual salary reviews will also be implemented for consideration based on performance.

We honor national holidays, which you may take off at your discretion. We do not have a firm vacation policy - we only request notice in advance to time that you request off, and that your deliverables and due dates are not compromised.
