Looking for experienced Linux Sysadmin Contractor

Award winning Cloud Technology Consulting firm in Sydney, Australia has an opening for a Hosting Linux Systems Administrator. The current role will be part-time contract role, working primarily during Australian business hours (however we allow flexible work). We are looking to build a relationship with someone who can help our business succeed over a long term.

We have been operating in Australia and the Philippines for 8 years and have a strong industry presence and are looking to hire someone who is a dedicated, dynamic individual with strong knowledge and experience. We are a technology-forward business and knowledge of cloud-based IT business systems (like Google Cloud Platform) is essential. You'll be joining a team of A-players and we expect the same from you.


About the job:
You will be responsible for our infrastructure platform of virtualised, Centos-based WHM servers running on Google Cloud Platform. These servers run Cpanel/WHM and our sites are mostly wordpress-based.

Key responsibilities for the role:
- Fully administer centos-based shared web hosting servers running WHM
- Troubleshoot DNS, web, network, boot and clustering issues for support team
- Plan infrastructure maintenance and ongoing management
- Performance tuning for Wordpress websites and other php/mysql services
- Install and manage plugins/addons for WHMCS billing system
- Respond to emergency outages and platform issues
- Deploy and run-up new servers and configure services where needed
- Research and work with new technologies to improve our platform such as CDNs and caching technology

Qualifications/experience required:
- Demonstrable mastery of WHM/CPanel server
- Strong experience working with wordpress web sites especially performance management
- Strong linux background including varied front-end web servers (Apache,Litespeed etc.)
- 3-5 years in a senior technical helpdesk or systems administrator role with daily work on linux servers
- 5+ years of Information Technology industry experience
- Strong experience administering technologies FTP, Apache, DNS, MySQL, SSH
- Web programming experience with technologies HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Shell, Perl, etc.
- Experience working with WHMCS billing platform (or similar)

The current role will be part-time/contract but can move to full time depending on work completed.



It will be extremely advantageous for you to have an interest and experience in:
- Working in the cloud (i.e. working in the browser) and how that is changing the business landscape
- Small businesses (i.e. up 1-30 employees) and their particular challenges and needs
- Google G Suite Technology (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive etc.) and it's integrations
