Magazine and publication designer

We are looking for someone to help with the end-to-end layout and design of an industry publication (monthly) that is 52 pages long for each issue. The design elements / style of the magazine is defined and this is only to take on the existing design (available in back issues in Adobe Indesign format) and fully execute new issues.

The design must be creative, striking, but conservative. You will need to come up with design for each issue, select photos, do graphics, cover etc -- all soup to nuts. We will provide you with edited Word, Excel etc files that you need to turn into consistent and crisp design. You need to be nifty in locating and using photos, which means you need to quickly understand the content and what the stories are about so you can select appropriate photos.

The work is lumpy and tends to come in close to publication so weekend work around publish time is to be expected. You should also expect each article to be laid out and designed sequentially with multiple review rounds for each article / spread. We are extremely picky with attention to detail, accuracy and making sure you capture all edits.

We will need a fixed rate per issue based on these parameters. This is an on-going project so we look for someone who either has a small company or does this sort of work on a full time basis.
