JOB OVERVIEW

About the role
We run two Australian businesses - a digital agency and a property services business and we need a reliable part-time bookkeeper to keep the books clean across both in Xero. You'll own the day-to-day and the monthly close so the numbers are always accurate and the quarterly BAS/tax work is easy for our accountant. This is steady, ongoing work) for someone who takes pride in tidy, reconciled books.

What you'll do
- Keep two separate Xero files (one per business) reconciled and up to date - bank feeds, coding, and clearing the unreconciled queue.
- Code every transaction with the correct Australian GST treatment (GST, GST-free, BAS-excluded) so the books are always BAS-ready.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable - enter bills, match payments, flag anything overdue.
- Run a clean month-end close for both entities: reconcile balance sheet accounts, tidy the P&L, and send a short summary of anything that needs attention.
- Keep payroll and superannuation records straight in Xero (we don't expect you to lodge anything - just keep it clean and accurate).
- Flag anything unusual instead of guessing - a quick question beats a wrong entry.

> Note: BAS and tax lodgement stay with our registered accountant. You don't need to be a BAS agent. Your job is to hand them a clean, reconciled, BAS-ready set of books each quarter.

You're a great fit if you
- Have real, hands-on Xeroexperience and have done the books for Australian businesses before.
- Understand Australian GST/BAS coding cold you know what's GST-free vs taxable and you code for it without being told.
- Are accurate and self-checking - you reconcile to the cent and don't leave a mess for next month.
- Keep two sets of books cleanly separate and never mix entities.
- Communicate clearly in writing and raise questions early.
- Bonus: awareness of NSW payroll tax / workers-comp obligations, and you use AI tools to work faster (we're an AI-forward team).

Logistics
- Part-time, fully remote, ongoing.
- Some overlap with Australian business hours (AEST) around month-end is helpful.
- Tools: Xero (core, two files), Microsoft 365, a shared document/receipt folder, and a task manager. Dext experience is a plus.
