JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a long-term content producer to help build one of the fastest-growing brands in the western industry.

This is NOT just another video editing job.

We are building a media company around craftsmanship, rodeo, and storytelling.

If you're looking for short freelance projects, this position probably isn't for you.

If you enjoy turning raw footage into stories that people actually want to watch, keep reading.

About Us

Slingin Shanks is a handmade western brand based in North Carolina.

Our products are trusted by world champion rodeo athletes, working cowboys, and competitors across multiple rodeo events.

Our goal isn't simply to sell spurs.

We're building a brand that people remember.

What You'll Do

Every week you'll receive folders containing:

Shop footage
Rodeo footage
Customer stories
Athlete footage
Product footage
Behind-the-scenes content

Your job is to turn that content into:

One YouTube video
Multiple Shorts/Reels/TikToks
Suggestions for titles
Suggestions for hooks
Suggested chapters for YouTube
Suggestions for thumbnail text
Organized project files

I'm not looking for someone who simply trims clips.

I'm looking for someone who can recognize a story.

What I'm Looking For

You don't need to know rodeo.

You DO need to understand YouTube.

You should enjoy watching creators like:

MrBeast

Not because I want that style...

But because I want someone who studies why people continue watching videos.

You should understand:

Pacing
Curiosity
Hooks
Emotional ---------- nts
Software

Experience with one or more:

Premiere Pro
DaVinci Resolve
Final Cut

Raises will be based on contribution and long-term performance—not just time worked.

To Apply

Please answer ALL of these questions.

1.

What YouTube channel do you believe has the best editing?

Why?

2.

Show me ONE YouTube video that represents your absolute best work.

Please explain exactly what YOUR role was.

Did you edit the entire video?

Create the hook?

Choose the music?

Write the titles?

Create the thumbnail?

I want to know exactly what you contributed.

3.

If you were given one hour of raw footage, how would you d ---------- what becomes:

The YouTube video
The Shorts
The Reels

Explain your thought process.

4.

Tell me about the hardest editing project you've ever completed.

5.

What is one thing that separates great YouTube videos from average YouTube videos?

6.

Include the words

"Built in the Shop"

at the beginning of your application so I know you read this entire posting.

Applications that don't include those words will not be considered.

This is not a "rush content" position.

I value creativity, communication, and consistency more than flashy editing.

I would rather publish one great story than ten average videos.

If you enjoy finding stories that other people overlook, we'd probably work well together.
