JOB OVERVIEW

We're a Victoria-based automotive servicing business — two technicians, one apprentice, fleet and retail clients — in an active growth phase. With front-of-house and admin now handled internally, we're bringing on a dedicated Social Media & Marketing VA to own our digital presence and paid advertising. This is a marketing-led role for someone who can take raw content and run with it, not a support role dressed up as marketing.

Hours & Setup

Full-time, Monday to Friday (Start off Part time)
Day time hours
Remote, fully independent setup
Long-term role with genuine growth as we expand to additional locations and scale fleet contracts

What You'll Be Doing
Social Media & Content Creation

Manage and grow our Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook accounts
Receive raw video footage and edit it into polished, platform-appropriate content — Reels, TikToks, Stories
Write captions, develop a content calendar, and maintain a consistent publishing cadence
Monitor and respond to comments and DMs across all platforms
Produce content that feels authentic to a real workshop — not generic, not corporate

Google Ads Management

Take full ownership of our existing Google Ads account
Optimise campaigns for conversion — leads and bookings, not vanity metrics
Report on spend, leads generated, and cost per acquisition
Proactively flag underperforming campaigns and recommend changes before we have to ask
Support future campaigns for new locations and fleet-specific targeting

Admin & Bookkeeping Support (Secondary)

Regular Xero reconciliation
Overflow quoting and invoicing support via Mechanic Desk when required
Customer follow-ups and general comms via Podium
Assist with SOP documentation as we build out business systems

Systems & AI

Use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) to support content drafting, SOP development, and efficiency tasks
Help build a replicable, scalable version of this role that works across future locations

What We're Looking For
Experience

Demonstrated social media management experience — Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, not just personal use
Hands-on Google Ads campaign management and optimisation (non-negotiable — setup alone doesn't count)
Automotive or trade industry background — this is a hard requirement, not a preference. You need to know the difference between a valve cover gasket and a rocker cover gasket without Googling it
Xero experience, even at a working level
Video editing experience — CapCut, Adobe Premiere, or equivalent; mobile editing minimum, desktop preferred

Technical Skills

Google Ads — active campaign management, bid strategy, performance reporting
Social media scheduling tools — Later, Buffer, Meta Business Suite, or similar
Video editing software at a production-ready level
Mechanic Desk — training provided, but fast uptake essential
Xero — reconciliation and general bookkeeping tasks
Podium — training provided
AI tools — comfortable using and building with Claude and/or ChatGPT

Communication & Work Style

Strong written English for captions, ad copy, and customer communication
Proactive — you send updates without being asked
Comfortable working with two decision-makers and navigating that without friction
Able to receive a loose brief ("here's a video, do something with it") and return a finished product — no hand-holding required

You'll Thrive Here If You Are…

A natural content creator. You can take a shaky phone video from a busy workshop and turn it into something worth watching. Raw material doesn't faze you.
Automotive-literate. You understand workshop culture well enough to create content that actually resonates — not just stock-photo-style posts that could belong to any business.
Performance-obsessed with paid ads. You treat ad spend like it's your own money. You check, adjust, and report without being prompted.
Brief-friendly. Fast-moving business owners don't always have time to write a detailed creative brief. You work with what you're given and deliver.
Self-directed and consistent. You publish on schedule, track what's working, and don't let things drift when no one's watching.
Data-aware. If engagement drops or cost-per-click climbs, you notice it first and bring a solution, not just a problem.
Built for growth. You're not thinking about this role as it is today — you're interested in what it looks like when we're running multiple locations and scaling fleet contracts.
