JOB OVERVIEW

We are a growing U.S.-based tax and accounting firm serving real estate investors, short-term rental hosts, entrepreneurs, and small business owners.

We are looking for an experienced Tax Accountant or Tax Preparer who can assist with tax preparation, bookkeeping review, tax planning support, and client accounting projects.
This is not an entry-level position. We are seeking someone who understands U.S. taxation, enjoys problem-solving, and can work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
Tax Preparation
Prepare and review Form 1040 individual tax returns
Prepare and review Form 1065 partnership returns
Prepare and review Form 1120 and 1120S corporate returns
Prepare Schedule C, Schedule E, and rental property reporting
Calculate shareholder and partner basis
Understand book-to-tax adjustments and M-1 reconciliations
Review balance sheets and retained earnings accounts
Review prior-year returns and identify missing information
Assist with amended returns and tax notices as needed
Tax Planning Support
Assist with tax projections and estimated tax calculations
Research tax issues and identify planning opportunities
Understand common strategies such as:
Home office deductions
Augusta Rule
Depreciation and cost segregation
Accountable plans
Hiring family members
Retirement plan contributions
Accounting & Bookkeeping Review
Review bookkeeping files for tax readiness
Analyze financial statements and balance sheet accounts
Review reconciliations and year-end adjustments
Collaborate with bookkeeping staff to ensure accurate reporting

Client Support
Request missing information and maintain tax checklists
Assist with client onboarding and document collection
Communicate professionally with team members and management
Help maintain organized client files and workflows

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Taxation, or Finance
EA, CPA, or equivalent certification preferred
2+ years preparing U.S. tax returns
Experience working in a U.S. CPA, accounting, or tax firm
Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state taxation
Experience with real estate investors, short-term rentals, and small business owners
Software Experience
Experience with one or more of the following:
ProConnect
Drake Tax
UltraTax
CCH
QuickBooks Online
TaxDome
Excel

Compensation
Compensation is flexible and will be based on experience, qualifications, and availability.
We are open to discussing either:
Hourly compensation
