OVERVIEW
This is a self-directed, pioneering role designed for a senior animator comfortable building a brand-new function within an established company. The core focus is bringing an established children's science book series to life through short, high-quality animations. These deliverables will primarily populate a dedicated YouTube channel, with additional rollouts across social media shorts and phone-viewable animations triggered by in-book QR codes.

The production strategy is highly innovative, combining advanced AI animation tools with original book illustrations to keep the workflow nimble, efficient, and affordable. The animator will own the process from initial storyboarding to final render. We are seeking someone genuinely versed in AI workflows who can confidently propose their own toolset, take initiative, and map out a completely new animation pipeline.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

*Storyboard & Concept Development
-Translate book spreads into clear, engaging motion sequences by storyboarding scenes before production.
-Develop creative concepts for brand assets, including a short 10–15 second animated logo ident.

*Animation & AI Pipeline Production
-Produce short animations from original book illustrations using advanced, AI-assisted workflows.
-Work directly from supplied artwork, brand assets, and layered character files (such as PSDs).
-Deliver optimized content formatted for YouTube first, while ensuring assets are easily adaptable for social media and in-book QR code integration.

*Workflow Optimization & Collaboration
-Recommend, test, and operate the right tools and software for the pipeline, identifying strategic paid AI tools for company investment where they improve speed or affordability.
-Take creative direction from the project leadership team and iterate confidently based on feedback.
Work efficiently and independently to help actively shape the animation workflow as this new strand develops.

*Systems & Software
-Full flexibility is provided, as the animator will choose their own optimal tools. The company is fully open to investing in paid -AI software where a clear gain in speed, output, or affordability can be demonstrated. The core operational stack involves:

*AI Animation Tools (chosen and managed by the specialist)
-Storyboarding software (experience with tools like StoryBuild AI is a plus)
-Adobe Photoshop (working with layered PSD assets)
-3D Animation & Rendering software (for brand idents)
-Digital Platforms (YouTube, social media channels)

ROLE REQUIREMENTS
-At least 5+ years of senior-level animation experience, including strong character animation work with an intuitive feel for timing, weight, and appeal to a young audience.
-Genuinely versed in modern AI animation tools with the ability to construct an efficient, AI-assisted production pipeline.
-Comfortable and skilled at seamlessly combining AI workflows with supplied 2D illustrations and layered PSD assets.
-Proven storyboarding ability to map out sequences visually before executing production.
-3D animation capability, specifically for creating polished brand idents and introductory sequences.
-Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
-Specialist's own computer and production software setup.

Highly Desirable
-Technical proficiency in motion graphics, compositing, lighting, and rendering.
-Demonstrated experience producing and optimizing video content specifically for YouTube and major social platforms.
-A professional background animating children’s, family, or character-led content.
-A strong showreel or portfolio demonstrating relevant stylistic depth and successful AI-assisted work.
