JOB OVERVIEW

We are launching a globally distributed, bilingual (English/Spanish) magazine connected to a Rotary Club in Newport Beach, California. The magazine covers environmental stewardship, ocean conservation, global water access, climate action, and community development across the Americas, Pacific Islands, and beyond. We publish two coordinated editions — a United States/Americas edition and a Global edition — starting July 2026.

We are looking for a sharp, organized, and proactive General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the magazine. This is a senior remote role based in the Philippines.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Coordinate the full production cycle of each monthly issue — from content collection to final delivery
- Manage the editorial team, including the editor, section contributors, and bilingual staff
- Maintain and enforce the editorial calendar across 30+ recurring sections and multiple contributors
- Communicate regularly with the magazine's co-founders (US-based) and provide weekly progress reports
- Set up and manage project management tools (Notion, Asana, or similar) for the editorial team
- Oversee digital distribution workflows via email platforms (Mailchimp or similar) and digital publishing (Issuu/Flipsnack)
- Recruit, onboard, and manage freelance contributors and section leads
- Coordinate translation workflows between the English and Spanish editions
- Monitor budgets, track expenses, and flag issues to leadership
- Ensure consistent quality, brand voice, and publication standards across every issue
- Be the central communication hub between all team members and external partners

YOU ARE:
- An exceptional communicator in English — written and spoken, at a professional level
- Highly organized with strong project management instincts
- Experienced managing remote teams across time zones
- Self-directed and able to make decisions independently when leadership is unavailable
- Familiar with digital media, publishing workflows, or content operations
- Comfortable using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) to increase team productivity
- Passionate about purpose-driven work with real global impact

REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience in operations management, editorial coordination, or publishing
- Exceptional written English — this is non-negotiable
- Experience managing teams remotely
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Meet)
- Reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated home office

PREFERRED:
- Background in media, publishing, nonprofit communications, or international development
- Experience with Mailchimp, Issuu, Flipsnack, Notion, or similar tools
- Familiarity with bilingual content production (English/Spanish)
- Experience with Rotary International or NGO environments is a bonus

WHAT WE OFFER:
- Fully remote — work from home in the Philippines
- Competitive hourly rate ($6–$9/hr) paid weekly ... 10-20 hours per week
- Flexible hours with core overlap to US Pacific Time for key meetings
- A meaningful role with genuine international visibility and impact
- Opportunity to grow with the publication as it expands
- Professional references upon successful engagement

TO APPLY: Please send your resume, a brief cover letter explaining your operations experience, and two or three examples of projects or teams you have managed.
