The Edgett Law Firm is a well-established, fast-paced criminal and juvenile defense firm based in McKinney, Texas, primarily serving clients across Collin and Denton Counties, but handling cases throughout the DFW Metroplex and the entire State of Texas. Position Overview-
We are seeking a dependable, dedicated, professional, and empathetic Virtual Legal Receptionist to serve as the primary point of contact for our firm. This is not a general administrative role. You will be representing an active law firm in the United States, handling real client calls, conducting potential new client intake qualification, scheduling appointments, notetaking and case updating, and supporting our legal team on a daily basis while being the first voice of the Edgett Law Firm. You must understand the sensitive and confidential nature of legal work and carry yourself accordingly in a professional environment.
What You Will Do-
• Answer inbound client calls and manage all general inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
• Conduct thorough client intake calls, gathering key information and routing matters appropriately to attorneys and staff.
• Follow up on consultations, missed calls, and outstanding client inquiries in a timely manner.
• Manage calendars including scheduling consultations and client meetings.
• Coordinate internally across departments to ensure smooth day-to-day firm operations.
• Handle sensitive and confidential client information with the highest level of discretion.
• Remain calm and professional even when handling distressed, emotional, or difficult callers.
What We Are Looking For-
• Prior experience working as a receptionist, legal assistant, intake coordinator, or similar role with a U.S. law firm is required. This is not negotiable.
• Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
• Strong phone presence with a warm, calm, and professional demeanor.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and cases simultaneously without losing attention to detail.
• Experience with CRM and case management systems preferred (MyCase or similar).
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and standard administrative tools.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of confidentiality and procedural compliance in a legal setting.
• Self-motivated, reliable, and proactive with minimal need for micromanagement.

• GoTo or similar VOIP phone system
• Slack for internal team communication
• Zoom and Google Meet for virtual meetings

'Work Schedule and Compensation-
This is a full-time remote position. You will be expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week aligned to U.S. Central Time business hours but would prefer to have someone who can work 50 hours per week (10 hours per day Monday through Friday with a 1 hour paid lunch). As discussed above, there is an opportunity to take on up to 50 hours per week, which means more income in your pocket. We are looking for someone who wants to grow with us, not just fill a seat.
Compensation will be competitive and discussed based on your experience, qualifications, and the number of hours you commit to. Long-term stability and growth opportunities are available for the right person.
