ABOUT THE ROLE
We are a US-based bookkeeping firm serving small and medium-sized businesses across multiple industries. We're hiring a highly skilled bookkeeping manager and trainer who genuinely understands US accounting standards, tax laws, and the expectations of American business owners — not just someone who knows the software. You will work directly with our team to train and educate our team as well as review books to ensure quality output.
JOB DUTIES
Meet daily with team to train on areas that team needs greater understanding on. Step in and complete the work when needed as well as review the work for quality and compliance.
Review full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple US clients using QuickBooks Online and/or Xero
Review Reconciliation of bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and merchant accounts (Stripe, PayPal, Square, etc.) monthly
Review transactions accurately in accordance with US GAAP and client COAs
Review financial statements — P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow — ready for CPA review or tax filing
Review accounts payable and accounts receivable, including aging reports
Review payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll liabilities (federal and state withholding, FICA, FUTA, SUTA)
Review sales tax obligations across multiple states and assist with preparation for filing
Review and assist with 1099-NEC preparation and contractor tracking at year-end
Flag issues proactively and communicate clearly with the team lead and other bookkeepers in writing
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
US Bookkeeping Experience
3+ years working directly with US-based clients or companies
QuickBooks Online Certified
ProAdvisor certification strongly preferred
US Tax Knowledge
Solid understanding of 1099s, W-9s, payroll taxes, sales tax nexus
Accrual & Cash Accounting
Fluent in both methods and knows when each applies
Excel / Google Sheets
Comfortable building and working in complex spreadsheets
Strong written English
HIGHLY PREFERRED
Experience with QBO,
Experience with Shopify, Square, Amazon, Stripe, Etsy, Gusto, ADP...etc
Familiarity with Schedule C, S-Corp, and LLC taxation structures
Experience supporting a US CPA firm or bookkeeping company (not just a single employer)
Knowledge of Chart of Accounts setup and cleanup for new or messy clients
Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
CPA board passer (even if not practicing) is a strong plus

You are comfortable working independently across multiple clients without hand-holding. You take pride in delivering financials that are genuinely clean and ready to use.
WORK SETUP
California Business hours strongly preferred. Must be able to be available during CA business hours. This is a part time role but can be full time if candidate would also like to perform bookkeeping duties.
Reliable high-speed internet is required (we will verify connection speed)
Must have a dedicated workspace and computer with a working camera for weekly video calls
