My name is Niko, and we are scaling a network of high-growth YouTube channels that focus on historical, cultural, and educational storytelling
example(not our channel):
We are not looking for a standard "faceless channel" editor who just throws stock clips over a voiceover. We are looking for a Visual Historian/Storyteller who can take a deep-dive script and turn it into a cinematic experience.
The "Simple" Paradox: While the technical execution may seem simple, the taste required is immense. You must know how to use 1960s archival photos, subtle textures, and intentional pacing to keep a viewer captivated for 40 minutes.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
* Narrative Sourcing: Finding the perfect historical image or clip—not just the first "barbecue" result on Pexels, but an authentic 1960s South archival photo that matches the soul of the script.
* Pacing & Retention: Mastering the "slow-burn" edit. You know when to let a photo breathe and when to use subtle motion (Ken Burns effect) to maintain focus.
* Soundscapes: Crafting immersive audio. You’ll use foley, ambient background noise, and era-appropriate music to ground the viewer in the story.
* Thumbnails: Creating high-quality, "clickable" art that looks like a documentary poster (experience in this style is mandatory).
Position Details & Expected Output:
* Schedule: Monday to Saturday (Flexible hours).
* Output: 1 high-quality video ever 2 days. Note: While the style is "clean," we expect a high level of intentionality in every frame.
* Salary: $400 USD per month + performance-based bonuses (e.g., $150 bonuses for 100k+ views milestones).
* Growth: This is a long-term play with scaling pay as the network grows.
Requirements (Crucial):
* Documentary Sensibilities: You understand how to edit for a mature, curious audience.
* Visual Taste: You can distinguish between "cheap stock footage" and "cinematic b-roll/archival assets."
* Independent Creator Mindset: You can spot a boring section of a 40-minute script and save it with a clever visual hook or a shift in sound design without being micromanaged.
* Reliability: You can maintain a "4 videos per week" rhythm without sacrificing the aesthetic quality.
Ideal Candidate:
* You have an eye for historical accuracy and "vibe" consistency.
* You are a master of the "Ken Burns" effect, film grain overlays, and clean, elegant typography.
How to Apply:
1. Start your application with your favorite animal.
2. Portfolio: Provide 2–3 examples of work that show storytelling. If your portfolio is just fast-paced "gaming" edits or "bright/loud" automation videos, please do not apply. We want to see "Video Essay" or "Documentary" styles.
3. Context: Briefly explain your experience with long-form retention (20+ minute videos).
4. Logistics: Confirm your availability for a 6-day-a-week workflow.
