We are a growing US based dermatology practice looking for an experienced medical billing specialist to handle patient billing questions and insurance follow-up by phone and message. Patients call us confused or upset about their statements, and insurance companies need to be chased on claims -- we want someone who can calmly explain a bill to a worried patient and also hold their own on the phone with an insurance representative to get a claim resolved.
What matters most to us is common sense, maturity, and the ability to work independently -- billing is full of judgment calls and dead-end insurance phone trees, and we need someone who keeps pushing, thinks for themselves, and does the right thing without being told. We value this above all else. Dermatology billing experience is a plus, but we would much rather have a mature, independent, sharp biller with general medical billing experience than a dermatology specialist who needs hand-holding.
You must have real US medical billing experience (patient statements, claims, denials, EOBs, and insurance follow-up), excellent spoken and written English, a reliable high-speed internet connection, a quiet place to take calls, and a working headset. You will work US East Coast hours, which is an evening/overnight shift in the Philippines -- please only apply if that schedule works for you long term.
If you are interested in this position, please send me an
1. What are your preferred hours of work/availability?
2. How many hours per week would you like to work -- minimum and maximum?
3. Describe your medical billing experience -- what billing/RCM software you have used and what kinds of billing you handled (patient statements, claims, denials, insurance follow-up).
4. Tell me about a time you handled a difficult situation on your own, with no one available to ask for help -- what happened and what you did.
5. Will you be working with me directly, or are you part of an agency? Will you be delegating any of your work to another VA?
6. What experience, if any, do you have in dermatology billing? If none, what is the closest related experience you have and how is it relevant?
7. When is the soonest you can begin work?
To be considered, please begin your response with the words "Let's sort it out!" and answer each question above in order.
