Senior Database Engineer / Software Developer (7+ Years Experience)

MUST SPEAK ENGLISH FLUENTLY. There will be an interview to determine fluency.

OVERVIEW
We run a production reporting platform (Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, Redis) that ingests payroll and visit data and calculates NYS LS301 wage parity compliance. We're looking for someone with strong database expertise and a real software development background to extend and debug the system as needed. Much of the build is done with AI tools (Claude), so we want someone comfortable working that way — using AI to move fast, but with the engineering fundamentals to read, review, fix, and extend the code correctly.


WHAT YOU'LL DO
Own and improve the PostgreSQL layer: schema, queries, indexing, performance, data integrity.
Extend and debug the Node.js/Express + React application as new requirements come up.
Use AI tools (Claude) to accelerate development while applying real engineering judgment to what they produce.
Diagnose and fix production issues independently.

REQUIRED
Strong PostgreSQL and SQL expertise (optimization, indexing, data modeling).
Solid software development background (Node.js/JavaScript or similar) — able to read, debug, and extend an existing codebase.
Comfortable using AI coding tools and reviewing their output critically.
Able to work independently with a non-technical owner.

NICE TO HAVE
Experience with Redis/queues, Railway, Vercel, or S3-compatible storage (Cloudflare R2).
Payroll, healthcare/home care, or compliance background.
