JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly capable finance professional for a blended role combining external audit experience with hands-on bookkeeping and accounting support. This role is ideal for someone currently working with Australian clients or with strong exposure to Australian accounting and audit environments.

This is a long-term remote contractor opportunity with flexible working arrangements. Initial hours are expected to be approximately 20 hours per week with the potential to scale into a full-time role.

Primary Responsibilities:

Audit:

• Preparing and reviewing audit workpapers and supporting schedules
• Financial statement preparation support
• Analytical review procedures
• Lead schedules and reconciliations
• Audit file documentation
• Assisting with planning and completion stages of audit engagements
• Research accounting issues, prepare detailed audit reports and present findings to senior management.

Accounting & Finance:

• Payroll processing
• Accounts payable processing
• Bank and credit card reconciliations
• Journal entries
• Month-end processing
• General bookkeeping support
• Budget preparation, review and variance analysis
• Data entry and transaction processing
• Assisting with management reporting
• Ad hoc tasks

• High level of integrity and confidentiality
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience using Xero preferred
• MYOB experience advantageous
• Comfortable working with cloud-based systems and remote workflows

Preferred Candidate Indicators:
• Currently employed or recently employed in a professional services environment (ideally Australian audit firm)
• Existing Australian client exposure
• Prior remote work experience
• Stable internet and home office setup
• Ability to take on additional hours if needed (scale up)

Essential Experience:
• Minimum 3–5 years’ professional experience in each field
• Experience working with Australian accounting or audit firms
• Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards (AASB)
• Understanding of Australian auditing standards and audit methodology
• Experience with not-for-profit entities highly desirable
