Freelance Signage Shop Drawing Specialist

Role Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Shop Drawing Specialist to produce detailed, fabrication-ready drawings for signage projects. You’ll translate design intent and site conditions into accurate technical drawings.
Key Responsibilities
• Produce accurate shop drawings, fabrication details, and assembly drawings
• Interpret architectural drawings, design files (PDF, AI, PSD), and concept sketches into CAD/BIM-ready documentation.
• Create detailed dimensioning, material callouts, tolerances, weld details, fixing methods, and installation notes.
• Ensure drawings comply with Australian standards, site constraints, and client specifications.
• Deliver files in required formats (DWG, PDF, DXF, etc.) and maintain drawing version control.
Essential Skills & Experience
• Proven experience in producing signage shop drawings (minimum 3 years preferred).
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit, SolidWorks, or Rhino is a plus.
• Strong understanding of metal fabrication, joinery, plastics, illumination (LED), and fixing systems.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and practical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently to deadlines.
• Familiarity with Australian building regulations and relevant standards.
Desirable
• Experience with illuminated signage electrical details and LED specifications.
• Prior experience working with sign fabricators and installers in Australia.
• Portfolio of shop drawings and fabrication-ready documentation.
Engagement Details
• Contract: Freelance/project-based contract with potential to transition to full-time.
• Location: Remote.
• Start: Immediate.
