Non Profit US Accountant / Bookkeeper

FlatRate Bookkeeping | Remote, US-based | Full-time

We're hiring an experienced accountant to own end-to-end accounting for a portfolio of nonprofit clients. You'll be their trusted financial partner — keeping the books clean and working directly with executive directors, boards, and finance committees.

What you'll do

Full-cycle accounting for 15–20 nonprofit clients
Categorization, reconciliations, and monthly financials
Fund accounting and grant tracking (restricted vs. unrestricted)
Budget vs. actual reporting and board-ready financial packages
Support Form 990 prep and annual audit readiness
Present financials and answer questions directly with clients

You must have

4+ years US accounting experience, nonprofit experience required
Strong grasp of fund accounting and restricted/unrestricted net assets
Familiarity with grant compliance and 990/audit support
QuickBooks Online proficiency
Excellent client communication — confident on calls, email, and video
US-based, eligible to work in the US
Nice to have
CPA or EA
Experience managing a multi-client portfolio
Comfort with modern tools (Plaid feeds, AI assistants, web apps)
