Supabase Backend Developer Tradelance v2

ABOUT TRADELANCE
Tradelance is an Australian trades marketplace connecting clients with skilled tradespeople across the country. We are currently live on the App Store and are now preparing to build v2, a fully coded platform to replace our current no-code foundation. This is a ground up rebuild and you will be a core part of making it happen. We are building something meaningful and we need someone who takes genuine pride in writing clean, scalable, production ready backend architecture.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a skilled Supabase Backend Developer to design and build the entire backend infrastructure for Tradelance v2 from scratch. This is not a maintenance role. You will not be patching an existing system or managing legacy code. You will be building a robust, scalable backend that powers a two-sided marketplace from authentication and payments through to real time messaging and API integrations.

Your work will directly shape the future of the Tradelance platform. You will work closely with our lead developer and technical team under the direction of our Head of Development ensuring every architectural decision aligns with what we are building on the app and web side.

We are launching v1 on Wednesday June 3, 2026 and this role begins post-launch as we immediately transition into building v2. If you are available to start as soon as possible, we want to hear from you.

WHAT YOU WILL BE BUILDING
• Full backend architecture for a two-sided marketplace serving both clients and tradespeople
• Job posting, proposal, and hiring workflow backend
• User authentication and role-based access control client, tradie, and admin roles
• Payment and subscription handling via Stripe
• Real time notifications and messaging backend
• File and media storage for job images and user profiles
• API integrations with Google Maps, push notifications, and other third-party services

REQUIRED SKILLS
• Supabase database design, authentication, storage, and edge functions
• PostgreSQL, schema design, relationships, indexing, and query optimization
• REST and real-time API design and development
• Multi-user role and permission management
• Third-party API integration such as Stripe, Google, and similar services
• JavaScript or TypeScript
• Webhook setup and server-side automation
• Scalable data modeling and backend architecture from scratch
• Secure file and image storage handling
• Version control, Git and GitHub

NICE TO HAVE
• Node.js experience
• React Native or Flutter familiarity
• Mobile app backend experience
• No-code to coded migration experience
• Australian client or project experience
• CI/CD pipeline setup and management
• OpenAI or AI integration experience
