About us
We are a fractional data team for fashion and apparel brands. We replace in-house data hires with a small senior team that owns each brand's analytics stack end to end: BigQuery warehouse, dbt transformations, and the BI layer on top. Our clients include several DTC and wholesale apparel companies in the US and Europe.
We are looking to add a freelancer who can take well-specified dashboard requirements and turn them into production-quality Looker Studio and Power BI reports.
What you'll do
Build dashboards in Looker Studio and Power BI against BigQuery-backed views and tables that we provide
Work from written specs (data source name, columns, visual type, filters, drill paths, target page layout) plus reference screenshots of legacy reports we are migrating
Match the look and behavior of existing client dashboards when rebuilding, or apply a clean default style when greenfield
Write the DAX measures and Looker Studio calculated fields needed for KPIs, YOY comparisons, and segment rollups
Iterate quickly on review feedback: add a column, swap a visual, fix a filter, change a sort
Flag spec gaps or data issues before building around them
What you do not do
You are not designing the data model. We hand you the BigQuery view or table, the field list, and the semantics. You build on top.
You are not the client point of contact. Reviews come through us.
Required
Strong production experience with both Looker Studio and Power BI (not just one)
Comfortable writing DAX measures: time intelligence (YOY, MTD, rolling), filter context, basic CALCULATE patterns
Comfortable connecting Power BI and Looker Studio to BigQuery as a data source, including parameterized connections and scheduled refresh
Reading and querying SQL at the level needed to sanity-check whether a number on your dashboard matches the source view
Reliable communication on Slack, fast turnaround on iteration cycles
Able to commit to at least 10 hours per week of focused dashboard work
Nice to have
Apparel, retail, ecommerce, or DTC reporting experience
Familiarity with rebuilding legacy Power BI files (.pbix) against new data sources
Experience with the Microsoft Fabric / Power BI Service workspace, gateways, and row-level security
dbt familiarity (you do not need to write dbt models, but understanding ref/source is a plus)
How we work
Specs and assets land in a shared folder per project. Each dashboard has a single owner on our side who answers questions and reviews iterations.
We expect short feedback loops: a first cut on a page within a couple of days, then revisions in hours, not days.
Invoicing monthly against tracked hours.
To apply
Send:
Two or three samples of dashboards you have built in each tool (Looker Studio and Power BI). Mock data is fine if real samples are confidential.
One paragraph on a project where you matched or rebuilt a legacy dashboard against a new data source. What broke, what you fixed.
Your hourly rate in USD or EUR and weekly availability.
