JOB OVERVIEW

I run a US law firm focused on rights restoration work — helping people clean up their criminal records and restore their civil rights. A big part of every case is gathering court documents: certified dispositions, judgments, sentencing orders, transcripts, and police reports from courts across Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama.

This role is 100?hind-the-scenes research and document retrieval. You will NOT speak with our clients. You will work directly with me and my team to track down records from court clerks, police departments, and other government offices.

**What You'll Do**

- Search online court portals to locate case records
- Email and call US court clerks to request certified copies of documents
- Submit open records requests to police departments
- Pay clerk fees using a firm-issued payment method (we cover all costs)
- Track every request in the client's case in our project management system.
- Follow up persistently on outstanding requests
- Upload completed records to a designated folder and notify the team

**Who I'm Looking For**

- Prior experience working with US law firms, immigration practices, background check companies, or any work that involved retrieving US public records
- Excellent written English — you'll be emailing American court clerks who expect professional communication
- Comfortable on the phone with American English speakers (some clerks won't respond to email)
- Highly organized — this job lives or dies on tracking and follow-through
- Persistent and patient — court clerks are often slow, rude, or both. You don't take it personally.
- Reliable internet and quiet workspace for occasional phone calls
- Long-term mindset. I am not looking for someone to do this for 3 months. I want someone who wants to grow with the firm.

**Nice to Have (Not Required)**

- Familiarity with PACER, state court e-filing systems, or county clerk portals
- Experience with case management software (we use Solve360)
- Background in legal admin, paralegal work, or court research

**How to Apply**

Send me a message with the following — applications missing any of these will not be reviewed:

1. **Subject line:** Court Records - [Your Name]
2. **Your relevant experience:** Have you ever retrieved US court records or worked with US legal/government documents? Describe specifically what you did.
3. **A persistence story:** Tell me about a time you had to track down information or a document and the first few attempts failed. What did you do?
4. **Your time zone availability:** What hours can you reliably work that overlap with US Eastern Time?
5. **Your hourly rate** within the $5-7 range
6. **Internet speed test screenshot** (speedtest.net)

**The Process**

- I'll review applications and shortlist 3-5 candidates
- Shortlisted candidates will get a paid test project (~2-3 hours of work, paid at your hourly rate plus any fees) where you'll retrieve one specific court record for me
- Based on the test, I'll hire one person to start part-time

This is a real long-term opportunity with a growing US law firm. If that's what you're looking for, I'd love to hear from you.
