ABOUT US
I'm Luke Smith. Former Army Ranger, 75th Regiment, 3rd Battalion. Former law enforcement. Licensed REALTOR with Real Broker LLC. I run a YouTube channel called Living in Middle Georgia — 13,500+ subscribers, 1M+ views — helping military families relocate to Robins Air Force Base.
We're scaling to 50,000 subscribers within 12 months. Short-form is how new people find us. You're the first in-house short-form hire. You build the look that people see first.
WHAT I NEED
I am sick and tired of generic content. Every realtor on earth has shorts now and they all look the same. Same CapCut templates. Same subtitle fonts. Same zooms. Same trending audio. Same agency output that screams "I paid someone $500/mo to post for me."
That is not us.
I need someone who can build a signature style for this brand. When someone scrolls past one of our shorts, I want them to know it's us before they see the name. The pacing, the sound, the captions, the energy — all of it should feel like Living in Middle Georgia and nobody else.
I need someone in-house who is jam up and can really make the content well. Not someone who applies templates. Someone with genuine creative taste who makes editing decisions they can explain and defend.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Edit 10+ shorts per week across YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok (60 seconds or less)
• Watch our long-form raw footage (we film 2-4 longs per week) and find the
• Build and maintain a visual style that becomes instantly recognizable across every platform
• Adapt content to each platform — Shorts, Reels, and TikTok are not the same and you know why
• Coordinate with our long-form editor and SMM content creator
• First drafts within 24-48 hours
• Make some real estate
WHAT YOU NEED
• Short-form work you personally cut — live on YouTube Shorts, Reels, or TikTok. I want to see real content with real views. Not a portfolio PDF.
• Proof that your style varies across projects. If everything in your portfolio looks the same, you're using templates, not creating. That's a fail.
• Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or CapCut Pro.
• You understand why the same clip performs differently on Shorts vs. Reels vs. TikTok.
• Reliable internet and your own editing setup.
WHO THIS IS FOR
You have opinions about editing and you can back them up. You study what's working on short-form right now — not what was trending 3 months ago. You're honest. If an edit isn't landing, you tell me. You don't ship work you know is mediocre just to hit a deadline.
This is one job for the next 5+ years. I'm building a full media team and you're a core piece of it.
WHAT I WON'T ACCEPT
• CapCut templates. If I see the same trendy font that 10,000 other accounts are using, it's an instant fail. I didn't hire in-house to look like an agency.
• Cookie-cutter subtitle animations. If I wanted that, I'd use a $30/mo tool. I'm hiring you because you're better than a tool.
• AI-generated voiceovers, fake B-roll families, or auto-captions you didn't hand-check. AI is a tool, not the editor.
• Stock "trending" music that every other Reel is using right now. Find something better.
I need the content we produce to explode the brand. The edits should look nothing like the generic stuff you get from AI platforms or agencies. That's why I'm hiring someone in-house. That's why this role exists.
PAY
• $1,000/mo base
• +$25 per short that hits 5,000 views (30-day window)
• +$100 per short that hits 50,000 views (30-day window)
• +$300 per short that hits 250,000 views (30-day window)
• Bi-weekly via Wise. Every time.
Realistically $1,500-$2,000+/mo within 6 months as volume and virality grow. The better your work, the more you earn.
HOW TO APPLY
1. Start your application with the word SCROLL in all caps. If it's not there, I delete it without reading.
2. Send 3 shorts you personally cut — live URLs on YouTube Shorts, Reels, or TikTok. Not mockups. Live content.
3. Name one short-form editor or creator outside of real estate whose work you study. What specifically would you take from their approach and apply to our channel?
4. Your editing software and years of experience.
PAID TRIAL — $50, paid whether I hire you or not.
If you make it past Step 1, I'll send you 30 minutes of raw long-form footage and a one-page brief. Cut 3 shorts from the same source:
— One that's hook-driven (stop the scroll in 1 second)
— One that's story-driven (narrative arc in under 60 seconds)
— One that's data-driven (make a stat feel urgent)
Plus 100 words per short explaining your choices. That trial is the real interview.
Async via Slack. No micromanagement. Hiring to win.
