You will clean up messy books, build operational financial infrastructure for clients, and serve as the senior accounting resource as the practice scales.

This is a client-facing role supporting small construction businesses typically under $5 million in annual revenue. You need to understand how construction accounting actually works, including job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion, retainage, and AIA billing. Familiarity with U.S. tax law is a strong advantage.

Why You'll Want to Join

- You will be paid in USD (bi-monthly: every 15th and 30th)
- Paid Time Off in accordance with company policy
- Observance of Holidays per company guidelines
- 100% remote setup so you can work wherever you're most productive
- Work with a growing book of small construction clients and build long-term relationships
- Opportunity to grow into a senior lead role overseeing bookkeepers as the practice scales

What You'll Work On

Client Bookkeeping and Cleanup

- Clean up and reconcile books for small contractor clients with messy or disorganized financials
- Identify errors, missing transactions, and categorization issues and resolve them systematically
- Bring client books up to date and maintain them on an ongoing basis

Construction-Specific Accounting

- Manage job costing and project-level profitability tracking
- Maintain work-in-progress schedules and percentage-of-completion reporting
- Handle retainage tracking and AIA billing documentation
- Ensure financials reflect the operational reality of each construction project

Financial Infrastructure Building

- Set up and optimize QuickBooks Online for each client
- Build reporting structures, chart of accounts, and workflows that give clients clear visibility into their finances
- Create systems that are scalable and easy for clients to maintain

Tax and Compliance Support

- Apply working knowledge of U.S. tax law to support client tax readiness
- Coordinate with CPAs or tax preparers on filings where needed
- Ensure books are clean and organized ahead of tax season

What You Bring

- Active CPA license or CPA-equivalent accounting credential
- Hands-on experience with construction accounting including job costing, WIP, retainage, and AIA billing
- Strong QuickBooks Online proficiency, QBO certification preferred
- Working knowledge of U.S. tax law and its application to small business clients
- Experience cleaning up disorganized books and building financial systems from scratch
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills for client-facing work
- Self-directed and organized with the ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously

Nice to Have

- Experience working with small contractors or subcontractors under $5M in revenue
- QBO ProAdvisor certification
- Background in a bookkeeping, accounting, or advisory firm serving construction clients
- Familiarity with construction-specific software such as Buildertrend, Procore, or Foundation

How to Apply

Please include:

1. Your updated resume
2. A short Loom video (1 to 2 minutes) introducing yourself, describing your construction accounting experience, and walking through how you have cleaned up a client's books or built financial infrastructure from scratch

**Only candidates who submit a Loom video will be moved to the next step of the hiring process.**

If you know construction accounting inside and out, can bring order to messy books, and want to build a long-term client base inside a growing advisory practice, this role gives you the ownership and the scope to do your best work.
