About Fidelis Books Ltd:
We are a small, professional UK-based accountancy and bookkeeping practice. We work with a range of small business clients across the UK, helping them stay compliant, organised, and on top of their numbers.
We are a lean, well-run operation. We work efficiently, we communicate clearly, and we expect the same from the people we work with.

The Role:
We are looking for a reliable, organised, and detail-oriented bookkeeping and practice assistant to support our work on a part-time basis.
This is a varied role. You will not be doing the same task all day. You need to be someone who can switch between tasks, manage your own time, and get things done without constant supervision.

Day to day, you will be:
Processing transactions and reconciling bank feeds in Xero
Supporting year-end accounts preparation — pulling figures together, formatting workbooks, checking that records are complete
Chasing clients professionally for outstanding information and documents
Keeping internal records, job trackers, and files organised and up to date
General practice admin as needed


What We Are Looking For:

Essential:
Genuine hands-on experience with Xero (data entry, bank reconciliation, navigating the platform confidently)
Strong written English — you will be sending emails to UK business clients on our behalf
Organised and reliable — you manage deadlines, flag problems early, and follow things through
Some familiarity with UK business accounting (even basic awareness of how UK accounts and VAT work is an advantage)
Stable internet connection and a quiet, professional working environment

Not essential but a bonus:
Previous experience working with a UK accountancy or bookkeeping practice
Familiarity with UK VAT returns or payroll
Experience using Google Workspace, practice management tools, or similar

Working Arrangements:
This is a flexible, part-time role. We do not require you to work fixed UK business hours, but we do expect you to be responsive during agreed windows and to meet deadlines reliably.
This is a long-term role for the right person, we are not looking for someone to cover a few weeks of work. We want someone who will get stuck in, help the company grow and be a part of it from the beginning.
