Video Editor – YouTube Outdoor & Storytelling Channel

We are looking for a highly creative and fast-paced video editor to help produce engaging YouTube content centered around outdoor adventures, hunting, fishing, challenges, and family storytelling.

This is not a corporate editing job. We want someone who understands YouTube pacing, retention, emotion, humor, and storytelling — especially content that appeals to outdoor audiences and younger viewers.

What We Need

The ideal editor can:

Build engaging stories from raw footage
Create strong hooks in the first 30 seconds
Keep pacing tight and visually interesting
Add music, sound effects, zooms, motion graphics, ---------- s, subtitles, and tension where appropriate
Understand YouTube retention strategies
Help create emotional ---------- nts, humor, suspense, and payoff
Cut around boring sections without losing story clarity

Responsibilities
Edit long-form YouTube videos (30–40 minutes)
Organize and sort footage
Sync audio and camera angles (although most of our content if filmed with one camera)
Add graphics, captions, music, transitions, and effects
Create rough cuts and final polished edits
Collaborate on storytelling structure and pacing
Deliver revisions quickly
Occasionally assist with shorts or social clips

Requirements
Experience editing YouTube-style content
Strong understanding of viewer retention and pacing

Proficiency in:
Editing software
Ability to work with large footage files
Good communication and reliability
Must be able to hit deadlines consistently
Understanding of outdoor/hunting/fishing culture is a major plus

Huge Bonus If You:
Understand YouTube thumbnails/titles
Watch creators like Kendall Gray, Rip N Stick Outdoors, etc.
Know how to build tension and payoff in edits
Can identify “viral ---------- nts” in raw footage
Have motion graphics experience
Understand storytelling beyond just transitions and effects

Pay based on experience and skill level
Project-based or ongoing position available

References and a probation period will be required. First video will be paid to see if you are a good fit. After that, payment terms will be discussed.
