The Purpose of Your Role
The Billing Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing for services rendered at The OCD Anxiety Centers. This includes processing insurance claims, following up on denied or unpaid claims, and maintaining clear and accurate records of billing transactions. Responsibilities
• Process insurance claims and submit them to the appropriate payers
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, working with the insurance company to resolve issues
• Provide support for patient billing inquiries and assist with explaining charges to patients
• Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the billing system
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for new patients
• Manage and track accounts receivable and resolve discrepancies
• Review medical records and ensure correct coding for services provided
• Prepare and send patient statements for balances due
• Track payments and apply them to patient accounts, following up as necessary
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all billing activities
• Support the Billing Manager with ad-hoc tasks as needed
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures

The Skills and Expertise You Have
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in medical billing
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT codes, and other medical terminology
• Experience with insurance companies and claims processing
• Proficient in using billing software (experience with EMR systems a plus)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other office software
• Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in behavioral health billing is a plus
• Lightning Step Experience
