JOB OVERVIEW

OpenPlate is a two-sided marketplace that lets home cooks sell homemade food to people nearby, and lets customers order real, local meals instead of takeout.

Think: Airbnb for home kitchens.

We’re pre-launch, early-stage, and moving fast. This role is about grassroots growth, not ads, not fancy decks.

The Role

We’re looking for a Growth Operator — someone who’s comfortable being in the trenches every day, starting conversations, adding value, and naturally pulling people into the platform.

Your job is simple:
???? Get cooks and customers to join OpenPlate for free by being active where they already hang out.

What You’ll Do
Join and participate in Reddit threads, Facebook groups, and online communities
Comment, reply, and have real conversations (not spam)
Identify:
Home cooks who want to make money selling food
People looking for affordable, homemade meals
Soft-introduce OpenPlate when relevant
Invite users to:
List their food
Order food
Join early as founding users
Track what’s working and double down on it

This is hands-on, daily execution, not strategy decks.

What We’re Looking For
Comfortable talking to strangers online
Knows how ---------- and Facebook groups actually work
Can write casually, naturally, and persuasively
Understands how to add value before pitching
Self-directed — you don’t need to be babysat
Bonus if you’ve done:
Community growth
Marketplace growth
Early-stage startup work

You do not need:

A marketing degree
Ad-buying experience
Fancy tools

You do need:

Hustle
Judgment
Consistency
Why This Role Is Interesting
You’re shaping growth from day one
Direct impact — your work = users on the platform
Opportunity to grow into:
Head of Growth
Community Lead
Long-term operator role
We care about results, not hours logged
How to Apply

Send a short message answering:

Which platforms you’d focus on first (Reddit, FB groups, etc.) and why
How you’d approach a conversation without sounding spammy
Any past experience doing scrappy growth (formal or informal)

No long resumes needed. We care about how you think and execute.
