Structural Steel CAD / Project Engineer – Shed & Construction Industry (Remote)

We are an Australian-based company specialising in custom steel sheds, garages, commercial buildings, and structural steel projects. We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented engineer/drafter to join our growing team full-time remotely through OnlineJobs.ph.

This role is ideal for someone with strong CAD drafting skills, practical construction and engineering knowledge, and experience working with structural steel systems and fabrication drawings.

# Position Overview

Your primary role will be assisting our engineering and project delivery team with:
- Structural steel modelling and drafting
- Fabrication and workshop drawings
- Bills of materials (BOMs)
- General engineering scoping and testing
- Coordination with project managers and consultants
- Reviewing construction details and identifying issues before fabrication

You will work closely with our team on real-world construction and steel fabrication projects.

# Key Responsibilities

- Structural Modelling & Drafting
- Create 2D and 3D CAD models for structural steel projects
- Produce fabrication/shop drawings for workshop use
- Prepare connection details and assembly drawings
- Revise drawings based on engineering or site changes
- Bills of Materials & Estimating Support
- Generate accurate material take-offs and BOMs
- Assist with steel quantities and procurement lists
- Cross-check member sizes, lengths, and components
- Engineering Support
- Assist with preliminary engineering scoping
- Review layouts and identify clashes or constructability issues
- Support testing and refinement of structural concepts
- Help maintain drafting standards and drawing consistency
- Project Coordination
- Track revisions and maintain organised project files
- Work within cloud-based systems and project management software

# Preferred Skills & Experience

- Experience in structural steel drafting or detailing
- Strong CAD skills
- Understanding of construction drawings and fabrication workflows
- Ability to read engineering plans and architectural drawings
- Good English communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Reliable internet and workstation setup

# Highly Regarded
- Experience with sheds, portal frames, or commercial steel buildings
- Experience with fabrication drawings and workshop detailing
- Knowledge of Australian construction methods

# Experience using:
- AutoCAD
- SketchUp
- Advanced Excel
