We are a boutique New York City property management company seeking an Account Controller who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and takes pride in accuracy, accountability, and professionalism. Some duties are as follows:
-Oversee all accounting operations for a portfolio of condominium and cooperative properties
-Manage the full monthly close process including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement -preparation
-Prepare and review monthly financial packages for Boards of Directors and ownership
-Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and bank reconciliations
-Monitor operating and reserve accounts for multiple properties
-Coordinate annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis with property managers and boards
-Manage annual audits and tax return preparation with outside CPA firms
-Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and NYC co-op/condo regulations
-Oversee assessment billing, maintenance collections, common charges, and arrears reporting
-Maintain and improve accounting systems, controls, and operational efficiencies
-Review vendor contracts, insurance schedules, and capital project financial tracking
-Assist leadership with strategic financial planning and reporting
-Supervise and mentor accounting tea
-Experience managing multiple entities and intercompany accounting
-Proficiency in property management/accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, or similar platforms
-Advanced Excel skills
-Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, audits, and internal controls
-Excellent communication and organizational skills
-Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
