SHORT FORM VIDEO EDITOR

We’re hiring someone who knows how to turn long-form content into sharp, high-retention short videos for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

This role is for someone who understands pacing, hooks, and visual rhythm in short-form content, and knows how to edit with intention rather than just cutting clips.

Responsibilities:
Short-Form Editing & Story Selection
- Review long-form videos, transcripts, or raw footage to identify short-form clip opportunities
- Select ---------- nts that are clear, engaging, and platform-appropriate
- Edit vertical videos optimized for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
- Create strong hooks, clean cuts, and natural pacing
- Deliver publish-ready videos that meet brand and platform standards

Captions, Visuals & Formatting
- Add on-screen captions (burned-in or SRT as required) with proper timing and readability
- Apply basic motion, zooms, punch-ins, and visual emphasis where appropriate
- Follow platform-specific formatting (aspect ratio, duration, safe margins)

Iteration & Workflow
- Implement feedback efficiently and meet agreed turnaround times
- Maintain clear file naming and folder organization
- Track edits, revisions, and delivery status as required

Requirements:
- A STABLE, HIGH-SPEED INTERNET CONNECTION, REQUIRED (at least 150mbps)
- Experience with Final Cut Pro X (or other editing software, such as Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro) is required
- Strong preference for MacOS users
- Experience editing short-form vertical content for social platforms, required
- Strong understanding of short-form pacing, hooks, and retention
- Experience working from transcripts or long-form content, required
- Clean file organization and understanding of post-production workflo
- Portfolio of completed short-form video projects, required
- General understanding of brand, content marketing, YouTube, etc, required
- GREAT interpersonal and communication skills, required
- Ability to self-start, work on a tight schedule, and manage multiple project deadlines, required
- Ability to follow directions and a LOVE of completing lots of projects according to consistent specifications, required

--- APPLICATION & RECRUITMENT PROCESS ---
STEP 1:

STEP 2:
Qualified candidates may be invited to participate in two PAID test projects, $10-20 USD for each test project estimated to be 2-3hrs of work for each (a total of $20-40 USD!).

STEP 3:
Candidates who advance through the test project rounds will be invited to an interview.

STEP 4:
Before extending a trial offer, we will conduct a CHARACTER REFERENCE CHECK for the final candidate(s). CONDUCTING A REFERENCE CHECK will be the last step in the hiring process.

STEP 5:
Upon receiving a trial offer, you will be onboarded as a Short Form Video Editor with a 90-day PAID trial period. During this period, we expect you to demonstrate your video editing expertise, meet project deadlines, be a team player, and excel at what you do. A successful trial will lead to a permanent offer to join the team.
