Position Overview
We’re a growing Melbourne-based SEO agency hiring a full-time Content Operations Manager to own our SEO content production pipeline end-to-end — from keyword assignment ? brief creation ? writer management ? QA ? publishing coordination ? indexation + post-publish checks.
This is NOT a writing role. You may occasionally rewrite lines during QA, but your core job is operations: make sure content ships, ships correctly, and ships on time across multiple clients.
You will manage copywriters and VAs, coordinate with developers/publishers, run structured QA, handle client approvals, and keep production dashboards accurate.
What You’ll Own (Responsibilities)
A) Briefs + Production Management
-Build SEO content briefs from assigned keywords (service pages + supporting content) using a consistent template.
-Assign work to copywriters, manage deadlines, and unblock writers fast.
-Maintain a visible production pipeline (status, owner, due dates, blockers).
B) QA (Editorial + SEO + Retrieval-Friendly Formatting)
-Coordinate VA first-pass QA, then complete a strict final QA before anything ships.
-Enforce on-page fundamentals: title tag, H1, meta description, internal linking, headings, intent match.
-Enforce AI-friendly formatting (direct answer blocks, scannable sections, tables where relevant)
C) Publishing Coordination + “Definition of Done”
-Brief developers/publishers with clear requirements (URL, metadata, internal links, schema, layout notes).
-Validate pages before go
-Indexation workflow: submit for indexing and monitor in Google Search Console (and flag issues fast).
-“Done” means: published + accessible + internal links added + schema validated + indexing requested + tracked.
D) Structured Data (Schema)
-Specify and QA schema requirements (Service / LocalBusiness / Article / FAQ) and validate it.
-You do not need to be a developer, but you must confidently manage schema tasks
E) Client Approvals + Revisions
-Manage client approval rounds clearly (what changed, what needs review, deadlines).
-Consolidate feedback, route revision requests, and prevent endless cycles with strong briefs + guardrails.
Tools / Stack (What we use)
-PM: Asana (or similar)
-Docs: Google Drive
-CMS: WordPress
-SEO/content tools: Surfer (or equivalent), GSC, Grammarly
-AI-assisted workflows: ChatGPT / Claude
-Originality checks: Originality.ai (experience preferred)
If you haven’t used one tool but can demonstrate mastery of the workflow, we still want to talk.
What Success Looks Like (90-Day Outcomes)
-You can run 11 clients concurrently without losing track of deadlines or quality.
-Content is shipped with consistent QA, minimal rewrites, and clean approval cycles.
-Publishing handoffs are clear; dev/publisher questions go down.
-Pages are consistently indexed and tracked; issues are flagged early.
Must-Haves
-Strong written/spoken English (non-negotiable).
-Proven experience running content production in an agency setting (multi-client).
-Extremely high attention to detail (daily QA).
-Strong on-page SEO fundamentals and internal linking judgement.
-Comfortable coordinating multiple roles (writers, VA, dev/publisher, account manager).
Nice-to-Haves
-Schema implementation/QA experience.
-Experience building briefs that enforce direct answers + extractable formatting (AI retrieval readiness).
-Familiarity with Surfer SEO for brief building and content scoring
