About This Role
We are a North American AI automation agency that builds custom AI voice receptionists for service businesses.
We are hiring an AI Automation Developer to build and deliver client systems end to end. You will take a new client from signed contract to live AI receptionist in 5 business days. You will work directly with our founder, follow a documented build process, and be responsible for quality, speed, and reliability of every system you deliver.
This is a hands-on technical role. You will spend most of your day inside n8n building workflows, configuring Vapi assistants, connecting APIs, and testing call flows. If you enjoy building real systems that go live and immediately affect a client's business, this role is for you.


What You Will Build
• AI voice receptionist systems using Vapi — including assistant configuration, prompt engineering, and call flow logic
• n8n automation workflows connecting Vapi to client calendar systems (Google Calendar, Jobber, Housecall Pro, Boulevard, Mindbody, and others)
• Appointment booking flows — availability checking, slot reservation, confirmation sending via SMS and email
• Lead qualification workflows — capturing caller information, scoring intent, routing to the right outcome
• Follow-up automation — reminder sequences, rebooking triggers, review request workflows
• Webhook integrations between Vapi call events and downstream n8n workflows
• CRM integrations — pushing booked appointments and call summaries into HubSpot or Google Sheets
• Custom builds for clients with specific requirements — multi-location setups, multilingual assistants, emergency escalation flows


Day to Day Responsibilities
• Receive new client build briefs and complete delivery within 5 business days
• Follow the standard build SOP and flag any deviations or blockers immediately
• Test every build end to end before marking it ready for client handoff — place real test calls, verify bookings flow correctly, confirm confirmations send
• Document any custom configurations for each client so future maintenance is straightforward
• Maintain and update existing client systems — prompt adjustments, new service additions, integration changes
• Troubleshoot live system issues and resolve within agreed SLA
• Contribute to improving build SOPs based on recurring patterns and edge cases
• Assist in evaluating new integrations as new software partners are onboarded


Requirements
Non-negotiable technical requirements:
• Hands-on n8n experience — you have built real multi-node workflows, not just watched tutorials. Self-hosted n8n experience is a strong plus.
• REST API experience — you can read API documentation, construct HTTP requests, handle authentication (OAuth2, API keys, bearer tokens), and debug response errors independently
• Webhook experience — you understand how to receive, parse, and act on webhook payloads
• JSON fluency — you can read, write, and manipulate JSON without assistance
• Basic understanding of voice AI or chatbot platforms — Vapi, Twilio, Bland, or similar

Strongly preferred:
• Direct Vapi experience — building assistants, configuring prompts, setting up call flows
• ElevenLabs or similar TTS voice configuration experience
• Experience integrating with scheduling or booking APIs (any platform)
• Claude API or OpenAI API experience for LLM-powered workflow nodes
• HubSpot API or CRM integration experience

General requirements:
• Available during with North American business hours (EST preferred)
• Reliable internet connection and stable work environment
• Strong written English — you will communicate with the founder daily and occasionally with clients
• Ability to work independently, manage your own build queue, and flag blockers proactively
• Honest about what you know and what you do not — we would rather hear 'I need to research that' than a confident wrong answer


Compensation
• $900–$1,100 USD per month depending on experience and skill level assessed during trial
• Paid monthly via Wise
• Performance bonus after 90 days based on delivery speed, build quality, and client satisfaction
• Salary review at 6 months — strong performers move up

2. Your honest skill rating for each of these tools
Rate yourself 1-5 (1 = never used, 5 = could teach it) for: n8n, REST APIs, Vapi, ElevenLabs, Claude API, webhook handling, HubSpot. Be honest — we verify during the technical interview.

3. One example of a problem you debugged and how you solved it
A workflow that broke, an API that behaved unexpectedly, an integration that did not work as documented. What happened and how did you fix it?

Shortlisted candidates will complete a short technical test — build a simple n8n workflow that connects to a test API and logs the result. We care about how you think and how you work, not how well you interview.
