Position Overview

We are seeking a Patient Billing & Insurance Support Specialist to support front-end and mid-cycle revenue operations, including insurance verification, patient billing follow-up, and account reconciliation.

This role is patient-facing and detail-heavy, requiring strong communication skills, accuracy, and persistence in follow-up tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments
Follow up on patient balances and outstanding accounts
Handle patient calls and emails regarding billing questions
Collect patient copays, deductibles, and outstanding balances
Perform basic insurance follow-up (calls/portals) to clarify benefits and coverage
Investigate and resolve benefit discrepancies and eligibility issues
Assist with account reconciliation and balance accuracy
Document all communications and updates accurately in the system
Coordinate with billing team on claim or account-related issues
Ensure timely follow-up on assigned accounts

Required Qualifications

Minimum 1–2 years experience in medical billing, insurance verification, or AR follow-up
Experience working with U.S. insurance workflows (eligibility, benefits, basic follow-up)
Comfortable making outbound calls to insurance companies and patients
Strong English communication skills (written and spoken)
High attention to detail and strong accuracy in documentation
Ability to work independently and manage daily follow-up tasks
Familiarity with EHR/PM systems and Excel or tracking tools

Preferred Skills

Experience with insurance portals (Availity, payer websites, etc.)
Prior experience in patient collections and account reconciliation
Basic understanding of EOBs and benefit structures
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards
