JOB OVERVIEW

We are in the early launch phase and building our social media presence from the ground up. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a brand from the very beginning and help shape its voice, content, and growth.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We need a creative, self-motivated Virtual Assistant who can take ownership of our social media content creation, scheduling, and community engagement. This is not a 'post a photo and write a caption' role. We need someone who understands how to grow a brand on Instagram and TikTok from scratch, understands current algorithm trends, and can create content that drives real engagement- saves, shares, comments, and followers.

You should be the kind of person who can take a product photo and turn it into a scroll-stopping Reel. Who knows the difference between a hook and a caption. Who can look at our brand and immediately see 20 content ideas. If you think 'post 3 times a week and use some hashtags' is a social media strategy, this role is not for you.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media Content Creation (Primary Focus)
· Create Instagram and TikTok posts per week (mix of Reels, carousels, static posts, and Stories)
3 posts, 2 reels, 2 stories for Instagram
3 short videos for tiktok (no more than 30 secs)
· Write engaging captions with strong hooks, CTAs, and relevant hashtags
· Edit video content — trimming, text overlays, transitions, trending audio selection
· Create Instagram Story sequences with polls, quizzes, and engagement stickers
· Repurpose content across platforms (Instagram Reels ---------- ---------- Facebook)
· Stay on top of trending audio, formats, and algorithm changes

Graphic Design
· Design social media graphics, templates, and branded visuals in Canva
· Create product flat-lays, quote graphics, promotional tiles, and Story templates
· Maintain brand consistency across all visual content (we have established brand colours, fonts, and aesthetic)
· Design occasional print materials (flyers, market signage, recipe cards) in Canva

Content Strategy & Planning
· Develop and maintain a content calendar (weekly planning, themed content days)
· Research and propose content ideas that align with our brand and target audience
· Identify trending topics, sounds, and formats that we can leverage
· Track post performance and suggest improvements based on analytics

Community Management
· Respond to comments and DMs in a timely, on-brand manner
· Engage with target audience accounts (local Sydney mums, parenting communities, kids activity pages)
· Monitor and engage in relevant Facebook groups and online communities
· Build relationships with micro-influencers and potential collaboration partners

General Marketing Support (as needed)
· Assist with email marketing content and setup
· Help prepare marketing materials for market stalls and events
· Product listing support (Square Online store, descriptions, images)
· Basic website content updates (text changes, image swaps)
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Minimum 2 years of experience managing social media accounts for a brand or business (not personal accounts)
? Strong portfolio showing accounts you've grown -we want to see follower growth, engagement rates, and content examples
? Expert-level Canva skills -you should be able to design professional-quality graphics from scratch, not just edit templates
? Video editing skills - CapCut, InShot, or similar. You should be comfortable trimming clips, adding text overlays, syncing to audio, and creating transitions
? Strong understanding of Instagram and TikTok algorithms -what gets reach in 2026, not 2022
? Excellent written English -captions must be engaging, on-brand, and grammatically correct
? Experience with content planning tools (Later, Planoly, Meta Business Suite, or similar)
? Understanding of hashtag strategy, SEO for social, and platform-specific best practices
? Self-starter mentality - you should be able to take a brief and run with it, not need step-by-step instructions for every task

PREFERRED (BONUS, NOT REQUIRED)

Experience with children's brands, parenting audiences, or lifestyle/family content
Photography skills or experience directing product/lifestyle shoots
Experience with Facebook and Google Ads
Familiarity with Square Online, Shopify, or similar e-commerce platforms
Experience creating Pinterest content for product-based businesses
Based in a timezone compatible with Australian business hours (AEST/AEDT)

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE
You'll be creating content for our target customer — the 'Muddle Mum.' She is:

Aged 28-42, lives in Sydney's premium suburbs (Eastern Suburbs, Upper North Shore)
Has children aged 2-8
Values quality over price — she wants beautiful, well-made, unique experiences for her kids
Active on Instagram and Facebook — scrolls during nap time, after bedtime, and during school pickup wait
Influenced by word of mouth, local recommendations, and visually appealing content
Books birthday parties 2-3 months in advance
Appreciates handmade, small-batch, local products
Cares about ingredient safety and sustainability

Every piece of content you create should be made with this person in mind. If it doesn't make her stop scrolling, save the post, or send it to a friend, it's not good enough.

OUR BRAND VOICE & AESTHETIC

Warm, authentic, premium but not pretentious. Think 'your most creative friend who happens to run a business' -not corporate, not overly polished, not salesy.

Tone:
Natural, earthy, warm tones. Moss green, terracotta, amber, bark brown, cream. Think handmade pottery, natural wood, dried flowers, golden hour light. NOT neon, NOT plastic, NOT generic kids party.

Aesthetic:
Moody natural light, close-ups of textures (powder in tubes, fizz erupting, botanicals floating), overhead flat-lays on natural surfaces, golden hour outdoor shots.

Photography style:
Satisfying, ASMR-adjacent, tactile. Close-ups of pouring, mixing, fizzing. Short, punchy, hook in the first second.

HOW TO APPLY
To apply for this role, you must submit ALL of the following. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

1 Your resume or CV
Include relevant social media and marketing experience. We don't care about your university degree — we care about what you've actually done.
2 Your portfolio
Links to social media accounts you've managed (not personal accounts). Include before/after metrics if possible — follower growth, engagement rate improvements, content examples. If you have a portfolio website, even better.
3 A paid sample task (AUD $20)
We will pay $20 for you to complete the following test task. This is non-negotiable -we need to see what you can actually produce, not just what you say you can do.
Create 3 Instagram posts for Muddle Studios:
a) One static post or carousel with a caption (product-focused)
b) One Reel concept -storyboard or script with text overlays, suggested audio, and a caption (you don't need to film it, just plan it in detail)
c) One Instagram Story sequence (3-4 slides) with engagement elements (polls, quizzes, CTAs)

Use our brand colours, visit our website and Instagram for reference, and create content that you believe would resonate with our target audience. Deliver in Canva, PDF, or clearly formatted document.
4 A short introduction message

Tell us: Why does this role interest you? What's one thing you'd do in the first week to improve our Instagram presence? Keep it under 200 words.
