As we grow, we’re looking for a Finance Assistant who can take ownership of our bookkeeping and operational admin support. This role exists to help free up our Business/Operations Manager from day-to-day finance and administrative work.
You’ll ensure finances are accurate, reporting is clear, and backend systems are organised and documented. This is a role for someone who enjoys clean numbers, clear systems, and taking initiative.
What You’ll Be Doing
Finance & Bookkeeping (Primary Focus)
- Xero Management: Full cycle bookkeeping, accounts payable, and bank rule optimization.
- Compliance: Accurate Australian GST treatment, manual journals, and quarterly BAS preparation.
- Reporting: Producing monthly activity statements, P&L reports, and data stock usage analysis.
- Systems: Learning revenue streams and documenting all finance workflows into clear SOPs.
Admin & Operational Support
- Inbox Management: Filtering the Business Manager’s
- Data & Research: Gathering information, providing concise summaries, and assisting with bookings.
- Organisation: Maintaining digital filing (Dropbox) and updating policy and procedure manuals.
You’re a great fit if you…
- Have an Accounting degree or strong Australian bookkeeping experience
- Are confident using Xero
- Have experience preparing BAS and handling GST correctly
- Can prepare Profit & Loss statements and manual journals
- Are detail-oriented and organised
- Can think beyond step-by-step instructions and apply logic
- Are comfortable working with a direct, time-poor manager
- Can figure out who to ask for what and when to solve something independently
- Are reliable when you say yes, you mean yes
- Take initiative and care about doing things properly
- Are emotionally intelligent and able to adjust to different personalities
- Can work independently without needing constant supervision
