Role Overview
As our Controller, you’ll oversee the day-to-day financial operations of CargoTrans, ensuring strong
accounting principles, internal controls, and accurate financial reporting. You’ll lead and coach the finance
team, partner with senior leadership on strategy, and maintain financial health in a fast-growing, midsized company. Your analytical insight and leadership will drive effective budgeting, compliance, and
cash flow management that empowers our continued growth.

What You’ll Do

Financial Management & Reporting
• Oversee all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, budgeting, forecasting, and financial
analysis.
• Prepare and present accurate, timely financial statements, reports and analysis for senior
management and stakeholders.
• Own and continuously improve month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate
completion.
• Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly.
Budgeting & Forecasting
• Develop and monitor annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Analyze variances between actual results and budget/forecast, providing insights and
recommendations for improvement.

Cash Flow Management
• Monitor and manage cash flow to maintain operational liquidity.
• Develop cash flow projections and optimize working capital.

Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.
• Oversee annual tax filings, Form 5500 and CPA lead annual financial review ensuring all financial
records are accurate and up to date.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of
financial data.
• Establish and document accounting policies and procedures.
• Ensure segregation of duties and control effectiveness.
• Prepare for and support external audits or financial reviews.

Financial Strategy & Planning
• Partner with executive leadership to develop long-term financial strategies.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Evaluate and improve financial systems, reporting tools, and automation.

Team Leadership
• Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team.
NVOCC - International Freight Forwarder - Customs Broker
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance financial processes.

IT & Systems Access
• Manage Controller access in CargoWise and participate in Outlook distribution groups: CT
Accounting, CT Receivables, Check Requests.
• Banking access to transfer funds between company accounts.
• Authorized to approve electronic transactions under $250,000.

What We’re Looking For
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
• 5–7 years of progressive finance/accounting experience with at least 3 years in management.
• Strong expertise in accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance.
• Proficiency with financial software and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with CargoWise is a plus.
• Prior exposure to supply chain/3PL industry preferred.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Positive, proactive attitude with a strong drive to lead teams to success.
• Overlap with U.S. Eastern Time business hours is required.
