JOB OVERVIEW

Hello! I hope the job search isn't to hard on you, especially when gas prices are this high. I'm going to keep this post straightforward and easy to read. Just like everyone else, I hate those intimidating job posts, but I do need to scare away the people who don't meet the requirements, so I'll try to be as approachable as possible!

I'm looking for a senior-level video editor who fully understands e-commerce and DTC video ads. Not just someone who knows how to edit, someone who has built their own systematic workflow from script to final product through years of real, professional experience. You understand the message and emotion behind an ad, and you translate that into video that is engaging and actually performs.

That means: IF ANY OF THIS SOUNDS UNFAMILIAR TO YOU, YOU DON'T HAVE AT THE VERY LEAST 2+ YEARS OF PROFESSIONAL VIDEO AD EDITING EXPERIENCE, YOU CAN STOP READING & DO NOT APPLY! You will just make things awkward for the both of us.

But, if you know exactly what I mean and you have the years of working professional experience doing this exact sort of thing, please keep reading!

The specifics I'm looking for:

- Senior Level Experience: Not only do you have the years of experience professionally editing video ads for e-commerce/DTC brands, but have very strong workflows for your creative process that can be implemented into the business. Able to leading other editors and manage a small team when needed.

- Ad Scripts & Storytelling: At your level, your not just editing clips, you can fully internalize ad scripts. You understand the emotion, the message, the story arc, and who we're trying to reach. You know why ads work, and every creative decision you make serves that. If you don't understand basic ad structure, the importance of clarity, or what it means to put yourself in the audience's shoes, this is 100% not the role for you. Years of experience mean nothing without this.

- Current Trends: You're completely up to date on organic and paid social media creative trends/styles/formats. And this isn't just your job, it's something you're genuinely interested in. You should be the one bringing new trends to my attention and telling me how we can use them. If I mention a video style and you don't know what I'm talking about, that's going to be a problem. If I say "Pixar-style" and you don't know what I mean, you're not up to date.

- Capcut Mastery: You know how to use CapCut like the back of your hand. You're not just comfortable with it, you're fast, efficient, and you've developed workflows that let you execute edits much quicker than the average editor. You're the one teaching people how to use CapCut better, not the other way around.

- AI Video & Image Generation: If you're keeping up with trends, you already know how essential AI is in today's creative toolkit, and it's only getting more important. You've used tools like Higgsfield/Freepik extensively, you're up to date with all the current AI image and video generation tools as of April 2026, you understand the strengths and weaknesses of different models. You also have strong workflows for generating high-quality, realistic AI content because we'll be doing a ton of it. If you don't know what ChatGPT Images 2.0 is, this isn't for you. If you don't know how to create anatomy or medical animations using AI, this isn't for you. If you can't tell me when to use NanoBanana 2 vs Kling 2.5, I don't think we could even be friends.

- Clip Sourcing: SUPER IMPORTANT! It is our bread and butter and something we do every single day. You know how to source clips from everywhere: TikTok, YouTube, the Meta Ads Library, free and paid stock footage platforms, etc. More importantly, you understand that the key to finding great clips, especially on social media, is knowing how to manipulate keywords based on the script and creative direction. You are an expert at this. If all you do is grab generic stock footage, you are wasting your time reading this post.

- Photo Editing: With your level of experience, you should also be comfortable with photo editing. You've used Canva, you've created and edited product images before, and you understand the difference between generic AliExpress-style images and polished, branded DTC images. You're able to take a generic product images and make it look branded for our website. With your knowledge of AI image generation tools, this should be easier to do than ever before.

- Fluent English & Strong Communication: It goes without saying, video editing at this level is deeply creative, and if you're not fluent in English, you won't be able to fully understand the creative direction I'm giving you, and you definitely won't be able to internalize an ad script the way this role requires.

The title says Senior, and I mean that. If we work well together, I want this to feel more like a partnership than a traditional employer/employee relationship. I've watched a lot of ads and developed a strong eye for what works, but I'm not the editor, you are. That means if I suggest a change that's clearly worse, I expect you to push back and tell me why. If you have a better idea, speak up. This is not a role where you blindly follow direction without thinking. You will also be expected to grow & manage the whole editing/creative team. Strong, clear, & honest communication for this role is non-negotiable.

Role Details:

- Full-time position
- Must have a stable, consistent schedule
- Cannot have additional job responsibilities outside of this role
- And of course, salary is based on your experience and how well your skills align with this role

If you read to this point and everything I said sounds just like you, then you are probably the one I am looking for. Message me with the subject line "SENIOR EDITOR JK" (any msg without this will be ignored) and give me a quick breakdown of your professional experience (no personal projects), a summary of who you think I'm looking for, why you think your skills & experience are perfect for this role, and any relevant work you have done professionally that you think is will peak my interest!

(just dumping a ton of ads you've done since 2022 in a google drive won't help, but if its curated and selected based on what you think aligns with the job posting, you will stick out like a shining star!)

NO EMAILS, THEY WILL BE IGNORED!
