VCounselors is seeking an experienced Credentialing Liaison to support insurance panel credentialing and re-credentialing for licensed mental health providers. In this role, you’ll manage end-to-end credentialing workflows across payer portals and internal tracking systems, maintain accurate status reporting, and proactively follow up with payers to keep applications moving to completion. This role ensures providers are properly enrolled with insurance companies, maintain active credentials, and remain compliant with regulatory and payer requirements to support uninterrupted billing and reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full credentialing lifecycle for mental health providers, including initial applications, re-credentialing, and payer enrollment
Create, attest, and maintain CAQH profiles; ensure attestations remain current and maintain spreadsheet.
Monitor expiration dates for licenses, certifications, malpractice insurance, and other required documents
Submit credentialing applications through payer portals (e.g., Availity and payer-specific portals) and monitor for requests/deficiencies.
Proactively follow up with payers by phone/email, document outcomes, and resolve missing items to drive approvals.
Maintain credentialing trackers (e.g., Google Sheets/CRM/internal tools) with accurate, up-to-date status per provider.
Provide clear weekly status updates and escalate risks, denials, or delays to internal stakeholders.
Support roster submissions when applicable.
Required Qualifications
1+ years of hands-on provider credentialing experience (behavioral health preferred).
Working knowledge of CAQH ProView, NPI, and payer enrollment processes; familiarity with PECOS strongly preferred.
Experience submitting and tracking applications through payer portals (e.g., Availity and payer-specific portals).
Strong written and verbal communication skills for payer outreach and internal status reporting.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail; able to manage multiple provider files and deadlines.
Proficiency with spreadsheets and tracking tools (Google Sheets/Excel); comfortable working in CRMs or similar internal systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience credentialing multi-state behavioral health clinicians and/or telehealth providers.
Experience with roster submissions and payer contracting/enrollment support.
Comfort working with high-volume workflows while maintaining accuracy and documentation quality.
Familiarity with insurance payers (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid)
Knowledge of credentialing platforms (e.g., CAQH)
Excellent communication and follow-up abilities
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
