If you know what a Google Business Profile is, understand why NAP consistency matters, and get satisfaction from finding the exact right answer and putting it in exactly the right place - read on.
The Work
We run detailed competitive analysis for local home improvement contractors in the US - comparing their websites and Google Business Profiles against competitors to identify gaps and opportunities.
Your job is to find specific data points from specific sources and put them in the right place in a structured spreadsheet. This is precise, methodical work. It is not creative work. There is a right answer for every field and your job is to find it.
The research process and reporting templates are already built and vetted. You are not being asked to figure out what to look for or how to structure it. You are being asked to execute an established process with precision and consistency.
What You'll Actually Do
- Pull data from websites, Google searches, and SEO tools and enter it into a structured Google Sheet
- Run specific searches (site: searches, sitemap pulls, schema checks) following a step-by-step process
- Check Google Business Profiles for specific listing information
- Flag when something is unclear or when a data point can't be found — rather than guessing
What We're Looking For
Skills can be trained. These cannot:
- You read instructions completely before you start
- When you don't understand something, you say so - you don't guess and hope
- You care whether the data in your reports is actually correct
- You follow a process exactly, even when you think you might know a shortcut
Some familiarity with SEO concepts: title tags, Google Business Profile, basic tool navigation - is helpful. You do not need to be an expert. You need to be honest about what you know and what you don't.
To Apply
Send a brief introduction - who you are, what kind of detail-oriented work you've done before, and any exposure you have to SEO or local search.
Then answer this question in your own words:
If I asked you to find out how many pages a competitor's website has indexed in Google - what would you do, and why?
There is no trick here. We want to see how you think through a practical problem.
Details
- Part time to start, with potential to grow
- Flexible hours - results matter more than schedule
- Long term relationship if it's a good fit
In Closing
If you're looking for quick gig work, this isn't it.
If you're looking for a long term working relationship with someone who is serious about process and serious about quality - let's talk.
